This is a good quality item. However, it should come with NO mounting holes. Customer should be given the option to drill holes where ever needed. Other than that, no complaints.

I used to be able to get these at the local hardware store. Now they're hard to find. I used this to install electric on a drum riser. An outlet box on the riser floor is wired right to this plug mounted on the side. Plug an extension cord into this socket and the outlet is powered for the drummer's electronic kit. Easy to install but I wish the housing was all metal instead of plastic.

This is a very clever product, and I am very glad it exists. I've only found it at PSSL. I am a musician, and I use it in one of the racks for our sound system.
It installs flush on the outside of a rack, and makes plugging-in your gear easy and free of dangling cords form the back of your rack. All you need in order to plug-in your rack is the female end of a standard extension cord. The recessed plug has three screw connectors on the inside part. To install, I cut a hole in my rack with a 1 3/4in hole-saw boring drill bit that I had to buy for this very purpose. Don't try anything else if you want a solid installation. I stripped the power cord from the power strip in my rack unit, and attached the terminals to this recessed plug.
The plug does break and bend with use eventually. I have to replace mine every couple of years. I just bought a new one because my old one started jamming frequently. It got really hard to connect and disconnect. This condition got progressively worse and eventually, the inner assembly got detached and came out with the extension cord. This didn't cause a power breakdown for my rack, but it required that I replace the unit.
My Recessed A/C jack was installed with rivets, so it is a little bit of a pain to replace without my special tools, which I only keep at home. Still, I recommend this product for a fast and neat installation of your gear.

Use It On The Outside Of My Side By Side DJ Road Case. I Have A Furman Power Conditioner Rack Mounted In My Case And All My Equipment Is Plugged In To It. Then I Have The Furman Power Cord Wired In To The AC Plug, Thus Having To Only Plug One Cord From My Case To A Power Outlet.

I have one of these on each one of my cases, and they make plugging in an AC extension cord very easy. It look much better than having a bunch of power cords running out of your combo case, or amp rack. If you are using a hole saw, make sure that you use a piace of wood in betwwen the hole saw and the case. Otherwise, you are likely to tear up the material of the case (unless it's a plastic SKB case). On the inside of the case, either cut the end off of a power strip/ surge protector, ac splitter (like a 3 plug one for a small coffin). [...]One of the best little investments to make for a DJ to save a little time.

This is a very practical solution for rack mounted systems if you want to do without the dangling power cords in the back of the rack. I have a system that is mounted on both front and back rails of the rack so a power plug mounted on the side is a welcome addition. You will need a 1 3/4" hole saw bit for your power drill.
