Comments about Alesis 3630 Compressor Limiter Gate Processor:
I've had the 3630 for 8 years now and ever since, have not blown a single speaker! Before the compressor/limiter, I had blown at least 8 woofers. Sure, it's not the BEST compressor/limiter on the market, but for a DJ or small live band, this unit is a great choice. Very easy to use out-of-the-box, and it has never failed me or given me a problem. If you blow woofers or compression horns, the 3630's [$] investment will pay for itself many times over. Highly recommended.

Yes. Many bands have a bank of compressors for each input to help soften the peaks. The limiter is used to help set a maximum db threshold of the signal so to help keep the amp from clippng.
