Alto TROUPER Compact 200-Watt Portable PA System

The Alto Professional Trouper is a compact high-performance PA system that perfectly fulfills the unique demands of solo artists and small ensembles. Leveraging technology from our widely-acclaimed Truesonic and Black Series sound reinforcement systems, Trouper is the best-sounding and most full-featured small-venue PA system available.

Trouper is a 2-way 200-watt bi-amplified system (130 watts LF/70 watts HF) with (3) 6 1/2" (165mm) woofers and a 1" (25mm) high-frequency compression driver, spanning the full musical frequency range from 65-20kHz. The system has thermal and dynamic overload protection, so the sound is always clean and clear no matter how hard you push it.

Trouper is brimming with thoughtful touches and conveniences that are exactly what you need to ensure your performances are smooth and glitch-free:

  • Three channels of inputs: line/mic 1, line/mic 2, and Aux

  • 2-Band (LF/HF) built-in EQ for each channel
  • Full Bluetooth capability for streaming input signals wirelessly (plus wireless linking of another Trouper system for stereo applications)
  • Trapezoidal enclosure dramatically reduces internal standing wave resonances, resulting in cleaner output in upper bass and vocal range

Alto also built it to be easy to set up, use, and take real-life punishment:

  • Stand-mountable with 36mm pole socket
  • Rugged: Scuff-resistant black vinyl wrap and protective steel corners
  • Easily transportable: Lightweight (just 23 lbs.) and built-in handle.

Add it all up, and Trouper is a great-performing, flexible, go-anywhere PA system that makes any small-venue gig sound its best.

  • (2) XLR+1/4-inch combo inputs + stereo RCA and 1/8-inch inputs. Connect microphones, instruments, DJ mixers, controllers and more
  • Bluetooth-equipped-wirelessly stream backing tracks or background music from any Bluetooth-compatible device

Why did you choose this?
ProSound and Stage Lighting Store
Already purchased one to have around the house. Ended up using it for actual wedding ceremonies and smaller jobs. Needed the second one to complete them. Hook a sub up to them and you can easily fill a room with 75-200 people.

Compared this to what Sam's Club, etc. had on portable PA speakers with Bluetooth. None of theirs could wire a mic. Plus I have other Alto speakers and they sound great.

what about reverb for vocals?
A shopper on Aug 3, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It does not have reverb, but my uncle tried it out as he uses the Bose L1 system when he plays his guitar and sings at group homes, etc. He was pretty amazed at the cost and sound the speaker put out. You can always hook it up to a mixer that does have all the sound effects you need too.
When pairing the speakers via Stereo link, can i use it mix inputs on both speakers?
zleee3112 z on May 31, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I forgot to mention, when you hardwire a stereo signal into channel 3, then Stereo link the speakers,
you do not get sound on the 2nd speaker from the hardwired stereo signal. Once again as mentioned below if
you then hook up XLR link to 2nd speaker you only get mono signal of channel 3 hardwired signal input.
What are the dimensions?
A shopper on Nov 30, 2015

Dimensions: 8.4 x 29.2 x 10.1 in/21.3 x 74.17 x 25.65 cm
Weight: 23 lbs/10.43 kg
Hope that helps!

Do these have flying hardware? Also has anyone tried stacking two for line-array column type application?
Keki Louis on Aug 20, 2016
BEST ANSWER: No fling Hardware. These should be ran along with a Sub. Not enough bass by it's self. I have not stacked 2 but have ran 2 side by side above 2 stacked 12" 200 watt Subs use a short single pole up from the top sub and then a 2 speaker mount adapter on top of the pole. Sound was Awesome!! Toyed with the idea of welding a 3rd speaker mount in the center of the duel adapter and adding a 3rd sub by putting 2 side by side and the 3rd sub on top of the 2 in the center. Never have yet but it is still a possibility!! That would really be Killer Sound!!
When pairing the speakers via Bluetooth..does that disable the XLR line out or would that still allow that output to run to a powered sub cabinet?
Mike O on Dec 27, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I'M not sure but I can't see why it would. The Bluetooth feature is a stand alone wireless technology which would seemingly have nothing to do with the mechanical outputs.
are the alto troupers in stock?
A shopper on Dec 22, 2015
BEST ANSWER: We are expecting more within the next week or two. If you order now, they will ship to you on the day they arrive. Thanks for your question.
What size building would it work well in. Next year I may be in need of something to handle 30,000 sq foot. I know extra speakers would be needed.
Bonnie on Jun 3, 2015
BEST ANSWER: That will depend on a few factors, primarily what exactly the application is and how many you'd be looking to get. The Alto TROUPER Compact 200-Watt Portable PA System definitely couldn't handle a building of that size if you were only getting 1 or 2 of them, but because these units are powered, you could chain together as many as you'd like.

ALTO Trouper speakers review
I'm a mobile DJ that does mostly weddings and small events. I picked up a pair of the Trouper speakers to use for smaller gigs like small corporate gigs, cocktail hours, and small outdoor events. PSSL had an instant rebate that got the price lower than anyone else. There's really not much on the market to compare them to except for perhaps the Bose L1 compact which around the same wattage and sound output ratings but are way more expensive but also more polished looking.

Pros: Inexpensive, 2 channels for XLR/TRS inputs, and a 3rd channel that can be built-in bluetooth, RCA, or 3.5mm input. Sound output is good, lows carry well and do not sound muddled. Easy carry handle on back.

Cons: Not super loud, only 200w and rated 117spl continuous. Not super light @ 23lbs? I'm just grasping at straws here.

Overall, this is a really great little speaker for small events.

Troupers ROCK!
Pros: Attractive Design,Good Power Output,Easy to Mount,Great Sound Quality,Easy To Set Up

I bought a pair of Troupers to complement the pair of Alto 12 Subs I had and I was very impressed with the rig sonically, and aesthetically. I use them for corporate presentations and for small bands that include acoustic and electronic instruments. They are loud and clean. Love the bluetooth feature too. Highly recommend them.

Your Money's Worth
First of all the build quality is very good. All jacks are good quality and the overall construction seems substantial. My first test was plugging a microphone and my acoustic guitar in and trying that. The vocals were clean and crisp. I have a Larrivee L-03 with an LR Baggs Anthem SL pickup system for your reference. The EQ on this speaker is Treble and Bass and for my tastes and my system, it wasn't as good as I had hoped. Next, I plugged mike and guitar into my Yamaha MG 10 XU mixer and into the Trouper. Now I was able to EQ the guitar in a more refined manner. A+
Recently, my partner in our duo and I plugged into the board, two mikes and two guitars coming out of the Trouper through the mixer. He said his Taylor 814 sounds better out of the Trouper than out of his Fishman $700 amp. Overall, this speaker is plenty loud for a room with 30-50 people in it...plenty.
I am very pleased with this product. I would rate it five stars except for the EQ factor. If you just have a UST or soundhole pickup, it might be fine. In any case, it's a P.A. speaker, not an amp and for that it works very well. I did sync it with my I pad which was simple and easy. When our second Trouper arrives (back-ordered) we will use the Bluetooth connectivity feature to link them in stereo when we play out. No cables...yay! It only weighs 22 lbs. and has a built-in carrying handle...very manageable.
No carrying case but at this price, I don't care.

Great Little Speaker
Bought this as an alternative to other portable powered speakers you can get at Sam's, etc. Love the fact you can actually hook up a Mic to it or other speakers. Bluetooth works very well also.

The sound easily beats those other speakers that cost the same price but you can't hook other speakers into them either.

I use it at home, outside and for my children's Italian Dance Group.

Excellent Product
I have had my Trouper for a little over a month and it's everything it claims to be. Portable, lightweight, great sound, plenty of power and the Bluetooth feature is nice. I would have given it five stars except it only has low and high EQ which is sufficient for vocals but I need a little more for acoustic guitar. I am in a duo and we run three instruments and two microphones through a small mixer with effects and more EQ and it works great.
