Description

Alto TS212 12-Inch 2-Way Powered Speaker

The new Truesonic TS2 product range is the result of a clean-sheet approach to designing professional speakers that strike an ideal balance between no-compromise acoustic performance, the complete array of features that users demand and outstanding ergonomics and utility—all coupled with a stunning new industrial design.

Our TS2 family builds upon the amazing success and wide acceptance of our current TS1 series. The current Truesonics established a benchmark for clarity, high output, flexible I/O options and value that has made them the worldwide standard of comparison.

Now, with the TS2’s, we’ve significantly eclipsed that level of achievement.

The range is comprised of three models, the TS210, TS212 and TS215. The amplifiers in all three are rated at 550 watts continuous, 1100 watts peak—a significant increase over the previous line. This new higher power capability ensures greater output for use in larger spaces, with increased clarity, since the amplifiers won’t “run out of steam” and distort the way less powerful units will.

The all-new industrial design is more than just beautiful: The TS212 and TS215 have five integrated handles and the TS210 has two, making them easy to pick up in either H or V orientation. Each model also employs professional-grade M10 rigging/suspension points. The tough, durable cabinets have excellent acoustic properties, while their light weight makes them easy to transport.

Higher performance, unsurpassed utility and flexible I/O options, easy transportability and unparalleled value—you’ll find it all in the Alto Professional TS2 Series.

Great sale. I already have two Alto TSL115 speakers that I love. Unfortunately, they are a bit heavy for my every day trivia and karaoke gigs, so I needed something a little lighter. I didn't want to sacrifice the sound product though. These will also be great for ceremony speakers and add on for larger events.

Smooth sounding, plenty of power, lightweight, nice looking.
I'm in love with these speakers. I own a sound company and I have a lot of much larger and better gear. But because of the size and weight, I've been using these more and more. I've been using them as full-range stand alone mains, as stage monitors, and as mid/high mains with subs. They weight nothing and they have fly points so I often hang to per side from lifts and crank them up high and add powered subs. They weigh nothing so I can do it alone. And they sound good. Not at all harsh, with no obnoxious frequency peaks like most inexpensive speakers have. There is a noticeable dip in response at the place many speakers sound harsh and ear-piercing, in the 2k to 4k range. That's fine with me as I'd rather have not enough than to much in that zone. But compared to better speakers they do lack punch especially with vocals. This is certainly due to the tiny compression driver they use, crossed over high, around 4k. That's the main factor that makes these speakers non-pro. I am blown away with how loud these get withkut blowing that little thing I have had the tweeters blown, though, via out of control feedback from a volunteer at the board. They will blow. They're about $30 for the replacement. Also, I have had to tighten up some of the screws that were rattling. But overall I love them. I have 4 of them and 4 of the previous TS112 model which function about the same. I plan to buy many more.

Excellent Sound and Power for the Right Use
I am quite impressed with this speaker for my purposes. It is MUCH lighter than similar products by other brands and sounds every bit as good. My company owns powered speakers from Harbinger, EV, JBL, Mackie and a few others. For small audiences (under 125) and not driven to full power, this speaker sounds tight and full with decent bottom end.

That said, you can't DJ hip hop music for 4 hours with this thing at near peak and expect the same results. There's a reason some speakers cost more money.

For the price, the weight, and the performance under the right circumstances, this is an amazing speaker at $300.

Refurbished - Good as new
I've never bought refurbished gear before but these speakers sound great. Used them at multiple gigs with no issues so far.

Does the job!
As I get older, I value smaller and lighter - as long as whatever it is still functions at a reasonably high quality. I find the powered 12" speakers these days fulfill almost all of my needs - so it's been a while since I've even thought about buying a 15" model, and the Alto is also lighter than most, seemingly without a major hit in sound quality. Having sold my mini-van, another nice feature is that I can get about 10 of these in my Honda CRV, and still have room for a mixing board and other stuff.

Product arrived on tiwm and works well
Product arrived within the window of time specified, it was packaged securely, and works quiet well. So far, I am happy.
Only one question is the 550W rms rating doesn't seem to be what it achieves. It is no louder than my other much lower wattage amplifiers. Is 550 Watts RMS really its correct rating?

They are what i thought they were.
I wanted to go with powered 12's to make set up lighter and quicker, and these ALTO's were at a great price and sound pretty good. If you are going to do a bigger gig, you need 4 of these and powered subs.

Great Sound at a Low Price
I already had another pair of Alto TSL115 speakers, so this was a no brainer. You go from 800w to 1100w in half of the weight. Decibel output is exactly the same, but with much more low end. I have already used these on ten events ranging from trivia nights to a prom with 300 people. One of the two speakers that I received looked like an open box. It already showed some ware on the bottom of the cabinet and a couple of scuffs on the sides. I needed them in a hurry, so I went with it. That's the only reason this isn't 5 Big Stars.

Good value, decent quality
Speakers I have owned: JBL SR Series, Mackie SRM, Peavey PVX12p, M-Audio GSR series, QSC K Series tops and subs.

If you are looking for a decent set of speakers for small to medium sized gigs that don't require high SPL, these are your best bet. I bought these with the intention to replace my current remote powered speakers but now I'm considering using these on some gigs by themselves.

They look like EV's and from the front have the same styling as my K Series which would complement the K's nicely if I have to bring them all out together.

I don't care much for onboard DSP since I do everything from the submixer, my Presonus 16.0.2. These sound fastastic and clear, good for speech and the occasional karaoke gig. The cabinets angle nicely if you want to use them as floor monitors for a band, although I see some potential issues with the tweeter and trying to reduce feedback via EQ.

I'm not into getting technical, but from a "working man's" point of view these speakers will do nicely on their own in a small venue of 50-100 people. I cranked these for two hours straight to levels just right under the clip threshold and they did fine. If you are a mobile DJ and want to save your higher end stuff for larger venues or want to reduce liability these are your best bet.

Keep in mind that the level knobs in the back are gain stages that are separated into Line\Mic gains. If you are DJ'ing through these, you would want them set at 12 o'clock. Anything past that is meant for microphone direct inputs only, which is where I see why people may be blowing these out so fast. On my other speakers, there is a switch for mic\line, which should help make them dummy proof but does not guarantee it.

Aside from this design flaw I feel these speakers would be adequate on their own, and may be a good alternative as a backup set just in case your mains go out. I'll be using these for smaller parties, wedding ceremony sound, or remote fill in speakers for the back of the room or cocktail hour.

These speakers would also be good for live music and small bands, you just have to understand what you are trying to do and these should last. Overall a good buy for the working guy\gal.

Big Bang for your buck
Would recommend this product to anyone who is looking for great quality sound at a reasonable price. For small gigs of 100 to 200 people these are even better if u run alto mixer and TS212S 12" subwoofer for small band work or for DJ work..can't say how these will hold up as I have only had them for couple weeks. Sound quality wise these speakers hang right with much more expensive equipment and PSSL was great to work with.
