If you're looking to shake a room..
Pros: Easy To Set Up,Attractive Design,Good Power Output
Cons: Heavy / Bulky

I purchased four of these subs to replace two powered 18's that I'd had for quite a while from a different brand. While the original 18's I had were great for sound quality, they just didn't have that feel that I was looking for in a nightclub system. The Alto TSSUB18's filled that position. Sonicly, I'd say they're not the most amazing things I've ever heard, but for the price, they also don't sound like garbage either. I have them running through a DriveRack PA and have spent quite a bit of time tuning them to get the sound I wanted, but flat-EQ'd out of the box, I would give them about a 6/10 on sound. Bass is something they don't lack, though. Like a lot of subs in the same level, they seem to really hammer the 80-100hz area, so it shakes everything around the bar, but that's not the most pleasant sounding area for dance songs, so I had to EQ that down a bit. After a little work, though, they sound great and still shake pretty much everything in the room nicely. A good bass you can feel.

I use the four I have with four Alto TS112A's that I have flown and it's in about a 3000sqft room.

Long and short of it, I'd recommend them (and already have) to other people, but I'll always add that you should EQ them for the best sound. I'm very happy with the purchase, though.

tight solid bass
Pros: Good Power Output,Attractive Design,Easy To Set Up,Great Sound Quality
Cons: Owners Manual Lacking,Heavy / Bulky

I bought this as a refurb and had to send the first one back due to no output. Likely it had a loose wire inside because it did power up. PSSL was great about handling the return and had the replacement in about a week. When the replacement got there I hooked it up with the two Alto TS112a speakers I also purchased from PSSL. Initially very impressed after I got the controls all setup properly. Took to a large gig and boom! this thing kicks hard and runs cool. The whole Alto system was clear and tight. Only time will tell but so far I'm happy with it. I've been a DJ for 30 years so I think I know good gear when I get it. Always better when it's affordable too! Size and Weight were comparable to my passive subs but this one does the job or two of my old Yamaha Club Series subs.

Fantastic Sub, Fantastic Price
Pros: Easy To Set Up,Great Sound Quality,Good Power Output
Cons: Heavy / Bulky

I purchased two of these to extend the frequency range of my mobile DJ setup and to handle those larger rooms and crowds that my two Alto TS115A tops can't do on their own. First, they are sonically massive. The sound quality is beyond impressive, and stacks up against that of much more expensive subs I have tried and listened to. They are built like tanks, which is good and bad. The heavy duty enclosure makes them extremely rugged and road ready, but also pretty heavy; I would recommend a hand cart of some kind, or affixing some casters to the back of the sub for transport. While they are designed to complement the Alto professional series tops, they do not match in style (tops are textured plastic enclosures which look very modern and the subs are heavily textured wooden cabs) which is minor, but for a perfectionist like me it looks a little like a mix and match setup. Although I'm sure none of my clients can either spot that or care at all. One quirk I discovered is that while my Alto Pro tops have a clip light that only lights when they are beginning to clip, the subs clip light illuminates green whenever there is signal passing through, and changes to red when they start to clip (which is REALLY hard to force them to do by the way.) Not a huge deal, but I was a bit worried when I first hooked them up that even at low volume the light was blinking green. From a sound quality perspective they are magnificent when paired with my 15" alto pro tops. While there is a high pass filter built into the sub's electronics I normally leave this disengaged, pass the full range signal to the top, and disengage the contour feature on the top. This creates a very full sonic profile whereby everything from deep sub bass through mid bass, mid, and high is beautifully, smoothly reproduced. I thought that when I had the HPF engaged on the sub there was a bit of a hole between the sub bass and mid bass. Overall impression of these subs is that they are top notch - only left off the fifth star because they are so heavy, and the lack of explanation of that clip light behavior in the manual that came with them.

Mobile DJ Sub That Works
Pros: Good Power Output,Great Sound Quality,Easy To Set Up,Attractive Design

As a mobile dj you want a couple of things to be right without any issues and a nice working sub is one of them. The TSSub18 doesn't dissapoint. It is almost on the larger size to be a perfect mobile solution but not so large that you couldn't handle it alone. Sound quality is great for different applications from small to large rooms and is a nice compliment to any full range system seeking a nice low end long throw sub. I have compaired this sub to several others in person side by side and bang for buck the long throw and warmth of the bass was my reason for purhcasing this sub woofer. Can you find better? Of course but then again that could be said for anything. Whats best for you is all that really matters. This one wont let you down.

Alto Professional delivers on all levels
Pros: Great Sound Quality,Easy To Set Up,Easy to Mount,Attractive Design

I'm a drummer who enjoys playing with good friends. We were looking for a pa system of our own to take with us when we gig. No more messing with old mixing boards and speaker set ups that we know nothing about. We use this Alto setup [Two 12in mains and one 18in sub) with our QSC Touchmix 16 and get a great sounding mix pretty much anywhere we go.
