Comments about American Audio VLP-1500 2U 500W Power Amplifier:
I do professional band / DJ work. I needed more wattage for economical $$$. This amp fits the bill (+ the great PSSL price). It has enough power to handle most large rooms, easy hook-ups & simple controls.
On the down side; it is heavy (47+ lbs.), and I had to do some minor reconfigurations of my amp rack due to the amps depth.
Dollar per watt; it can't be beat !

Comments about American Audio VLP-1500 2U 500W Power Amplifier:
This power amp is heavier than hell. My shoulder shudders when its time to move this big boy. However for its weight, its pretty reliable and puts out plenty of power. The fans are loud too, so don't buy this for your home system, its just too noisy for that. Its been on a lot of mobile gigs and has performed well. Buy it you will like it, just lift it with your KNEES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Comments about American Audio VLP-1500 2U 500W Power Amplifier:
I use this item for mobile DJ. It's a boat anchor and weighs 43 pounds. Its old school with separate bulky transformers for each channel so the bass comes out booming. If you are a bedroom DJ or novice that does not do paid gigs don't bother. It has 2 fans in the rear which roar at full speed, its louder than my gamer PC tower with 6 fans. Putting the amp into a heavy roadcase will give you a hernia, stick to a lightweight case. I love the bass output, but I don't really believe its 500wpc at 8ohms, its probably around 400 because I never heard of a 2 space rack amp that puts out that much power for the price. In summary, it has big bass but its heavy as a chrome bumper, it pops when you turn it off (make sure you disconnect the speakers first)It has a built-in LIMITER which is good, bad is that it doesn't go down to 2 ohms, but good is the price. A great back-up amp by all means.

Q:
I want to use a American Audio VLP-1500 to power a pair of 18" subwoofers rated at 4 ohms (nominal?) each. They are rated at 400 watts continuous with 2 parellel Speakon NL4 jacks for input and through connections. How do I configure this so that damage will not occur?Asked on 12/17/2011 by Anonymous from Sackets Harbor, N.Y.1 answer
A:
This amp should be fine and give you enough headroom to powr the speakers. Just run the speakers in stereo with speakon to speakon cables into one connector on each of your speakers.Answered on 12/20/2011 by Donovan from Cypress
