Comments about American DJ DJ Scan 250 EX 250W DMX Scanner:
Great light for the price. I bought two of these and plan to buy four more. Easy to setup, if you're in a rush all you need to do is plug them into power and done. Bright, the 250 Watt bulb is very powerfull and with fog it even seems brighter. Efficient, overall this light is great for its price. It would be great if there was an LED scanner like this for the same price, but halogen works just fine. The only con with this product is that the information on the manual is not exactly how it is on the light's menu, but thats not a problem if you're going to use a DMX controller or just run it in master slave mode.

Comments about American DJ DJ Scan 250 EX 250W DMX Scanner:
I use this scanner for a working band. For the price this fixture is fantastic. Smooth mirror movement, high output and very easy to set up especially if you have even minimal experience with DMX. This fixture uses a 250w. halogen bulb which runs very hot, however, the way the housing is designed, it stays at an acceptable external temperature. My favorite feature on this fixture is the mirror cover. It's a metal cover that attaches over the entire mirror niche to protect it until you have it into operating position. Overall, this product can't be equaled for the price and features. Highly recommended.

Comments about American DJ DJ Scan 250 EX 250W DMX Scanner:
Where else are you going to find a DMX Scanner with a long throw, clear gobo's, no duty cycle etc for this price. This is a great light if you are new to DMX or are ready to take your light show to the next level. They link together for an awesome show and the controls are easy to use. They are a little noisy and they do use about 5 amps per light so be judicious in your power management. But for the price they are great.

Comments about American DJ DJ Scan 250 EX 250W DMX Scanner:
I use these for mobile DJ applications. Great light for the price. Run them in Master/slave and they look great. Good bang for your buck. Not incredibly bright or smooth mirror movement but then again they are not $1000 plus per unit. I wouldn't use these for a very large crowd. I.e. a thousand or more people.

I purchased 4 of these, I run them master / slave and w/ a dmx controller. For the price these can not be beat. They have a metal cover to protect the mirrors during transport. Has a good internal program. light weight. solid construction. bright output. replacement bulbs are cheap. does not have gobo rotation but that would jump you up in the martin $900 range. great light for the money

Comments about American DJ DJ Scan 250 EX 250W DMX Scanner:
My Background is mostly with Martin 812's , MX-4, and I have to say im totally impressed with what American DJ offers for the price. Its a very nice unit and actually offers a few more options over the 4 times more expensive Martin 812. Its not perfect but for DJ use its more than you could ask for. I will be posting demo videos on myspace look for tags B.D.S. Entertainment.

Q:
1 of 2 what controller is recommended, and do the lights come with any cable to link them, if not which cablesAsked on 10/11/2010 by Pappabear53 from Utah2 answers
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
These work with any of the dmx controllers, depending on how many lights you have and your application we could help you figure out the best one for you. The DMX cables that are needed to run the DMX system are not included.Answered on 10/13/2010 by Prince from Cypress, CAA:
Any DMX controller with at least 5 channels is good for this light. Some examples are the Chauvet obey series, the American DJ MyDMX software controller, and even the Elation stage setter will all work with this light. Its up to you to decide which controller you feel more comfortable with.
No, the light only comes with a power cable. You can link these fixtures via DMX cable.Answered on 11/1/2010 by JG from Laredo, Tx.

You can use a DMX controller, or Link them together to run as master and slave via DMX cable. Or you can just power them on and they will perform their own show in stand alone mode.Answered on 2/10/2010 by Leroy from Cypress, CAA:
Unit has built in programs for power and go. You can also use a DMX controller, you will want one with at least 5 channels for this unit.Answered on 4/20/2010 by MY DFW DJ from Dallas TXA:
