Comments about American DJ SUNRAY LED Color LED Effect Light:
I use two of these on the floor under my speaker tri-pods to cast spots on the ceiling. I have the DMX version, but don't need that function ...yet. Just a slow rotation works well in most medium sized halls. Just beware of curious kids wanting to touch them if they are not hung on a light rig! :)

Yes this light has a simllar effect and can rest on a flat surface. It has two mounts on the side to be used for mounting that will allow the light to stand allone when the screws are not in place because they are long and flat.Answered on 1/14/2011 by MikeT, ext 8103 from PSSL
