CHAUVET ILS Technology Intelligence Made Simple
Author: Bret Leon
Published: Oct 30, 2007
The advanced ILS technology empowers users to create a complex light
show in the shortest possible time with unprecedented ease. And for the first
time ever, it can run fully synchronized even in stand-alone mode. The system, a
first in the USA, consists of a variety of different high quality DMX-512
luminaires and a specially built universal DMX-512 controller, the “ILS Control
Center.”
ILS-enabled lights are packed with high-end features, yet remain competitively priced. Their ability to work in perfect harmony is unmatched. We’re talking perfect, total synchronization of different types of fixtures (scanners, yokes, color changers) even in stand-alone mode. You can match every single trait: gobo, color, chase, dimming level, etc., in every single type of ILS fixture. And you can do it all at once, either stand-alone or via the super fast ILS Control Center. This is a first in the world of lighting and it’s exhilarating.
DMX-512 on Steroids? An innovative DMX configuration in the ILS fixtures is behind the exclusive ability to match traits such as colors and gobos across fixtures and at the same time via DMX or stand-alone. With the touch of a button, the ILS Control Center can program a show in as little as five minutes. Also, ILS fixtures can be addressed remotely, sparing a user from having to access each light or individual addressing — no more climbing ladders!
The ILS Control Center is also a universal DMX-512 controller designed to ease programming by providing integrated control of all of your visuals: fog, strobe and master/slave DMX-512 fixtures. Fixture traits (gobo rotation, dimmer…) are efficiently organized, labeled and easily accessed. A built-in library of 12 adjustable movements and effects cuts down programming time by more than half. We were hard pressed to find another system offering the same level of flexibility, sophistication, freedom and ease of operation.
High-End Brilliance!ILS fixtures are outstanding DMX-512 luminaires even without taking into account their unique synchronization abilities. Most features read like the wish list of a picky lighting pro: advanced casing design, dichroic-coated optics, trapezoid-cut colors allowing true seamless splits, microstepping motors, MSD 250 discharge lamps, full dimming, modern interchangeable gobos…We also like the functionality of carrying handles, removable floor stands, digital readouts and lighter casings. Chauvet went all out, positioning these fixtures in the upper echelon of lighting, yet still managed to stay true to its commitment to value and ease of operation. Even the stand-alone programs run as if personally and professionally orchestrated.
The series currently includes the 7-channel Trackscan 250 DSR-ILS, the
7-channel Trackscan 250 DBR-ILS barrel scanner, the 5-channel Colortrack 250
DCR-ILS color changer/wash and the 7-channel Legend 150DMR-ILS moving yoke.
Chauvet will introduce more ILS-enabled luminaires in coming months, the goal
being to offer an all-inclusive system with every type of light
represented.
Rarely have innovation, design, technology and affordability
come together in such an attractive package. With ILS, Chauvet has boldly taken
the lead on a technology that should enthrall anyone dreading the frustration of
long programming hours and every light connoisseur seeking enhanced creative
control.
