Why spend twice as much on a Pioneer or Denon system that is is twice as big and twice as complicated to set up at parties? With this, it comes in its own hard case and does the same thing, if not more than Pioneers or Denons. I love the B-52 Prodigy and highly recommend it. You wont be disapointed in it.

Kid Legend, yes, I read the manual. Master reset did not solve the problem. Although I loved what it can do and it sounds great and is portable, please trust me when I tell you that this is not a quality unit. My friend who works in DJ retail refuses to sell these because of the numerous problems it has. I hope you have better luck with it than I did. Here is my time line: 7/07: Purchased new Prodigy FX. Loved it! felt the same way you did when I first got it!8/07-12/07: Had at least 10 times where CD's would randomly skip. Re-burned ALL of my CD-R's to a slower rate thinking this would solve the problem but new CD's were skipping as well.12/31/07: Right drive stopped working.DISC ERROR Tried master reset several times but no good. Used Sony Discman to get me through the night, which ironically, NEVER skipped even when jogging/mountain biking!1/3/08: Unit was sent to B-52 for repair1/23/08: Received repaired unit, did a Sweet 16, same problem, DISC ERROR sent it back for repair a 2nd time. 2/7/08. Received repaired unit, DJ'd a Black History Month talent show, CD's skipped twice on right drive. I was able to cover it up with scratching feature. 2/27/08: After speaking to B-52, they decided to let me exchange my unit for a new one at a local dealer. 5/9/08: Skipped during the theme song of a prom. Received DISC ERROR several times that night. 6/08: Sold unit on [@] & bought 2 Pioneer CDJ800's & Numark 5000FX & never looked back.

DON'T BUY THIS LEMON

      Comments about B52 Prodigy-FX 4-Channel Mixer/Dual CD With Case +:

This product has been a total lemon from day 1. I purchased this because of all the features were compacted into a package that included a carry case. The drives start to act quirky and you have to tilt the unit in order for the discs to read!!! Soon after that they become non usable with a message that reads "DICS ERROR". B52 Tech support are the worst on the planet, they took almost 3 months to repair and return the Prodigy Fx and made me pay the shipping of the unit out to them which was $78 + insurance. Unit worked for 2 months and now the other drive reads "DISC ERROR". Now the warranty is out and they refuse to repair the [$] piece of trash. Spare yoursefl the headache and trouble and go with a pro piece of gear like Pioneer/ Denon/ NI. B52 is a small company known for it's speakers and not DJ mixers/ controllers/ amps etc. Consumer Beware!!! Go on youtube and watch the other people that had the same problems with this heap of junk. Comments about B52 Prodigy-FX 4-Channel Mixer/Dual CD With Case +:

I've always had good luck with B52 products especially their speakers & subwoofers so I decided to give the Prodigy a try despite what bad things people have said. Bought it on Thursday, 4/22, tried it out, seemed fine. Used it at a party Sunday, 4/25 and had problems with several CD's either skipping or not being able to play. After an embarrassing performance, I returned it first thing Monday morning and got PCDJ and a Hercules controller.

      Comments about B52 Prodigy-FX 4-Channel Mixer/Dual CD With Case +:

This product needs to be taken off the market until all the bugs are fixed. This is a good looking unit but not reliable. Bought one in November, 2007, did a gig the next month. CD became stuck in right CD player. Tried everything to eject the CD. Nothing worked. Had to continue the gig with one half of the unit working. Returned it to place of purchase. No one there could eject the CD either. I was given another brand new Prodigy FX. The same thing happened with this unit. It also developed an electrical short in the receptacle connection that receives the power cord. After going back to where I purchased this unit, the same sales person told me that he no longer pushes this unit because of the amount of returns and problems that customers have with the Prodigy FX. This unit is loaded with a tremendous amount of features but the unit as a whole is unreliable. Sometimes the CD display would state "disc error" and would not play a CD. You could then eject the CD and slide it back into the same CD player and it would play. I did like the track locator feature which could locate tracks (songs) on a CD in a matter of seconds (even on MP3 CD's with over 120 songs). The Prodigy FX is an unreliable piece of equipment and I would not recommend this to anyone to buy. For the selling price, the quality and value are not there. It is a good looking unit and has many features but should not be on the market. I would tell any DJ or anyone planning on working as a DJ to look at other CD players/mixers. I also purchased a Prodigy (the cheaper version of Prodigy FX) and had the very same problems. B 52 apparently knew there were problems with CD's becoming stuck in their CD players and have a stated procedure for ejecting CD's that become stuck. This procedure doesn't always remedy the situation. And rather than repair these units, B 52 would rather customers receive another brand new unit that would take them through the one year warranty. After then you're stuck with a unit that is prone to failure. A unit such as the Prodigy Fx should be for use at home but not for gigs or very important gigs where your reputation as a mobile DJ is on the line. If B 52 were to get all the bugs out of the Prodigy FX I'd buy another one. But for right now, this product should be taken off the market. The Prodigy FX looks good, but it's really a rip-off.

There are better products out there for less money; like the American Audio Radius. This unit has no Midi functions which is very important. My left deck shows "DISC ERR" when I load my Torq Control CD or any CD's. It worked well for about 18 months; then started giving trouble.

All I use is the b52 prodigy and a pair of powered twelve inch jbl speakers which fits nicely in my Honda Civic. I experienced some of the same problems that other djs are saying about this regarding the CDs. This machine has a mind of its own because on 1 job it will work fine and the next it will give me trouble. good thing I carry some pre-mixed music on my Ipod in case it decides to konk out. I would love to get something else but I am stuck with this and can't return it since I had it for 3 months.

        Comments about B52 Prodigy-FX 4-Channel Mixer/Dual CD With Case +:

I, too, fell in love with this unit when I first bought it from [...]. Loved the controls. Loved the clear, digital sound. Excellent mixer. I also like the fader. Knobs could've been a touch bigger diameter for my chubby fingers. You could use Traktor with this unit, but you can't use the unit's effects with Traktor. The platter was very sensitive, as I expected. I imagine it is easily transported, although it sat exactly where I put it from the minute it came out of the box. The durability of this unit raises BIG questions as my CD-1 (left ch.)read DISC error after only about 25 to 30 hours of play. I have to send it back, completely across the country, on my dime. I have to lug the unit to the UPS store. Purchase, God knows how many, packing peanuts, tape,etc..This poses a huge distraction for a busy person like me. I understand things break but after 25 hours ??? That's like buying a car and purchasing a new engine for it after the first 6 months. Very disappointing !!! I'm totally turned off & am considering buying 2 CDJ-1000's... the one thing I wanted to avoid by buying an 'all-in-one' unit. At least I know that the CDJ's are built like a tank. [...]. Be smart. Don't cut corners. Get the REAL DEAL: Pioneer CDJ-1000's.

I keep reading peoples bad reviews of this product, and they often say the same things. jamming cd players being a common one. Read the $#@*ing manual. B-52 built in a feature that will reset either cd player completely independent of the other without stoping anything. the audience is oblivious to any technical difficulty. so relax, b-52 did themselves proud with this bad boy. its sharp looking, powerful, has good sound quality and considering how powerful of a system it is they managed to make this thing idiot proof. read the manual, plug it in, away you go. good job b-52.

I'm the assistant manager of a big box guitar/music store. They keep coming back like boomerangs. I sold dozens of these things and about 75% of the customers come back saying they need repairs or it doesnt work. I think B52 tried to cram too much technology into such a small unit. Stick with the trusted names like Denon and Pioneer and Numark.

I've been a mobile DJ since 1983. I am 43 and have tried almost all mobile equipment on the market from turntables to pc and everything in between. I believe for the mobile dj this unit is excellent, I mean any product can have problems, that's the nature of electronics. I personally haven't had any problems with mine. Add a nice powered speaker system and book your next event!!

The right drive, for some unknown reason, has trouble reading discs and will randomly skip. Ironically, my [$] [@] Discman plays CD's/Mp-3 Discs just fine. This is the second B-52 Prodigy in a year that has given me the SAME EXACT PROBLEM! The first one lasted from 6/27/07-12/31/07 and the second one lasted from 2/27/08 until 07/25/08. As much as I like the Prodigy FX for its features, price and "WOW" factor, I cannot recommend it due to its unreliability. B-52 needs to go back to the drawing board and get it right. Put your money towards the Pioneer CDJ400's instead and let the Prodigy rot in pieces.

Nice unit, logically laid-out and a boat load of functions...BUT, right drive crapped out after only 6 months (which happened to be on my NYE gig) After receiving the repaired unit, it was sent back to the factory for repairs (again) after the left drive started acting funny. In a nutshell, I had the unit for 6 months and have maybe 80 hours on it and it was sent out for repair twice. As a mobile DJ for 16 years, I've only had 5 things fail: a "used" Pyramid mixer, a Soundtech crossover, a blown woofer (because someone dripped my mic) and the B-52 Prodigy

They guy at the Local Guiter store sold me on this. After a couple gigs I realized that it really is pretty big. Also, there are a lot of functions and a lot to can break or stop working. I got concerned that if one thing stopped working I would have to return the whole unit. I ended up returning it and getting my money back, then called [...] and they got into the CK 1000 MP3, I love it! It is just the right size and has the features I need. Also, less than 1/2 the price

I have been on the internet for 1 hr trying to get a fix for my b52. I have a disc error problem, I went to the Guitar Center Where I purchased the item and asked for help. Their information was poor and they told me to go onto the net for advice and which I did and can't seem to find help on the problem. If nothing else, I have found some poor reviews on the product which isn't good. So Can someone Please give me some advice.
