The BBE 882i Sonic Maximizer lets you take your sound to entirely new level. It's the ideal Sonic Maximizer for those who demand great sound and a balanced signal path. Since it has true dual-mono operation, the 882i offers two independent Sonic Maximizer signal processors in one chassis. Use it on a stereo signal or process two mono channels separately with separate controls. Rack this baby up and use it to liven up the sound of just about anything: live bands, home studios, mobile DJ systems, nightclub sound systems, individual instruments like bass, guitar or keyboards -- even your home stereo will sound better through the 882i. The unit is really easy to use: just hook it up and set the enhancement to your taste.

Really brightens your sound especially when using a laptop. My DJ mic sounds better too; not as muddy with crystal clear vocals when making announcements. Works great with my Carvin LSX1502 powered speakers. Bass response is tight and crisp. If you have one of these, you can get away without using a subwoofer depending on the size of the room. This is probably the single best improvement you can make to your sound system. Definitely worth the money!

How did I ever go this long without buying this product? The BBE really brightens up music especially since alot of my collection is on a laptop and compressed to MP-3 files. Vocals & midrange sound much clearer. Bass is much more responsive and I don't always need my subwoofer. (One less thing to carry!) Not only are there XLR & 1/4 inputs, but there are XLR & 1/4' output jacks as well. This means I can connect 4 powered speakers to my setup or use a regular speaker wire God forbid a mic cable malfunctions.

Comments about BBE 882I Sonic Maximizer - Stereo Or Dual Mono:
The 882i is the big brother of the 442i, in that it has a much higher dynamic range, which is better suited for us DJs, and I love the XLR connections. While no amount of processing can fix a badly recorded track/song, the 882i does a very good job of expansion, effectively reversing much of the compression effects of MP3 and other formats. There are other products on the market that give better user controls like the Peavy Kosmos V2 ($299), but I like BBE's philosophy that most users don't really have the knowledge to properly adjust the expanders, for the best sound, and thus, limit the available controls.
The bass contour does a decent job, but turn it too high and it gets muddy and can clip the amp. The process "job" does very well in bringing out the crispiness and depth of the compressed song. Again, don't turn it too loud. I have both my controls set at about 12 O'Clock position, but it all does depend on the quality of the system you are using.
If you use original CD's and have a very good sound system, I doubt the 882i wil make much difference in sound.
With the move to PC DJing, the 882i should make a noticeable improvement in the quality of the sound.
