If you like your tone with the guitar's volume all the way up, this pedal is for you. I've found it to be the simplest way to go from rhythm to lead and back. Once you get the tone you like for rhythm, just step on this to go directly to lead volume. Hands-free and easy. Doesn't seem to alter tone, just gives a straight signal boost.
