The DI-400x is four discrete, high-quality, professional-grade active DI box for touring sound applications and recording studios. It has a major advantage over other high-end DI boxes on the market, with its built-in Sonic Maximizer processors which employ the BBE 4th Generation Processing Engine - just like the 482i and 882i Sonic Maximizer models. The DI-400x yields excellent results with active or passive bass guitars, keyboards, and both acoustic and electric guitars. The DI-400x is an excellent choice for transferring any musical instrument signal direct to a mixing console.
Above all, the DI-400x was designed without compromise, with paramount imporance placed on maintaining the highest sonic integtity. All of the switches, pots and connectors are connected directly to its military-spec circuit board, rather than “fly-wired” to the PC board. The primary advantage of this design is that allows the legs of most board mounted components to be dramatically thicker than the narrow conductors commonly employed in many audio designs. All this in a musically engineered and massively constructed DI that can withstand the most demanding conditions.

Comments about BBE DI-400 4 Channel Active Direct Box:
This unit is extremely quiet and it does allow an input signal via the rear "unbalanced out" plug which is a feature I really needed. When I called BBE and asked if the unit had an input in the rear of the unit I was told no, but I purchased a unit anyway due to the anticipated quality and reputation that the BBE DI units have. Turns out that the unit DOES accept an input signal in the back even though it's labeled "unbalanced out". The front input, the front "thru" and rear "unbalanced out" are all wired in parallel so if you want to use the rear
"unbalanced out" as an input rather than using the front input unit it'll work just fine.
It's a great unit and it's basically four BBE DI-100 units in a single rack unit.

Q:
I am interested in running my live guitar rig direct and miked. The miked part is done. I use three Mesa amps and two Crown amps live with options of running up to six amps simultaneously. It's a wet dry system. I send three sends to cabs dry and two or four sends wet. I use a Bradshaw system for switching. Will this BBE unit do good for me to get two drys and two wets to the board? Thanks for the help, RgAsked on 3/30/2011 by AmpMasterRg from VA1 answer

A:
It should work perfect for that. You can put it any where in your chain and use the Thru's to keep your original chain then use the balanced outs to go to the mix board. Also the sonic maximizer's that are built in are great for fine tuning your tone.Answered on 4/29/2011 by Jesse from Cypress,CA
