The output is laid out on ¼' TS or balanced, gold-plated XLR connectors. A ground lift switch eliminates typical ground loop problems, and it runs on a 9 V battery or a DC power supply (not included). Most won't need more.
Pros: Versatile,Excellent Sound Quality,Responsive,Compact Design,Good Selection Of Effects

The internet has demo videos, use good earphones. There it is, and it does all the sounds most will ever need. However the company ALSO offers the SF300 with even more or the UZ400 with lots more gnarly waveforms. Note that many top professional recording artists use various "digital trickery" equipment for a lot of special sounds, and none of these is one of those. Like everything else, "it is what it is and it ain't what it ain't".

One correction to original review.
Pros: Excellent Sound Quality,Responsive,Compact Design,Versatile
Cons: Limited Selection Of Effects

Well, GOSH! It took me a long time to notice from the slight indications, that this unit and others varied from it by Behringer, ACTUALLY DO use sampling and digital trickery. The unit seems at first an upgrade from the LM-386 IC homemade buzz-tone units made from Radio Shack parts, many designs listed on the net. You also get some added sustain out of the 386's used this way as well, from the ragged clipping. Those fun little homebrew 386 rigs are pseudo-historic, as Les Paul used a small tube amp grossly overdriven, to make the original buzz-tones, and a small IC amp may be the modern equivalent. The Behringer GDI-21 SEEMS to use a brief sample of a really torqued waveform, repeated, for the one hottest selectable sound. APPEARANTLY the other lesser sounds are made by variously filtering this down, strategically (and inexpensively!) for effect. The slight SEAMS connecting repeated samples together is barely detectable and only at high volume, but it should sound somewhat intentional to non-musicians as added texture. And sustain bordering on the illegal is available. Most will simply fiddle with the knobs until they like a sound for a particular work.
