Comments about Behringer UCA222 USB Audio Interface:
I do some home PC recording as a hobby, and I bought this device because I don't like using the tiny, flimsy inputs on most low-end PC soundcards. This unit sits on my desk and accepts phono inputs. I run into a small 4 channel Mackie mixer to take advantage of the mic preamps, and then into this unit.
I could not be happier with the results. The sound quality is excellent, and the device was very easy to get setup and working. It does exactly what I needed. Unless you are a pro studio, I can't think of a reason why you would need anything more than this.
It's plastic, and not the sturdiest thing, however, I haven't had to touch it since I hooked it up, so reliability should not be an issue. If it breaks, it's so inexpensive, I would just buy another.
The large package of included software is great, and enough to get you started. I figured that after I got started, I would purchase a more full featured recording package, however, I got very comfortable with the included EnergyXT software, and have not felt the need to upgrade, even after trying some other higher-end packages.

I was trying to get a hum out of my system. Although this product didn't fix the issue, it did give me better sound quality than I had before.

Comments about Behringer UCA222 USB Audio Interface:
My soundcard had poor 1/8" jacks and the sound coming out of it was distorted so I decided to buy this little booger.
The first thing that turned me on to it was the RCA ins/outs, using turntables that's pretty much your only option (unless you get converter cords). The other thing I liked was how small, portable and simple it looked.
So I plugged it in while my computer was on and BAM my computer recognized it! No downloads nice and simple. I opened up my recording program (Acid Pro), hit the record button and noticed there was NO floor noise with the channel up (something unheard of with my soundcard). I curiously tapped the tone arm to make sure it was picking up sound, and it was. I didn't have to change settings or anything in windows. It was working as the default device once plugged in.
So I slapped on my record and recorded it. I played it back and it sounded nice and clean. Great product, simple, plug and play, cheaper than a sound card, easier to install, does what it's supposed to. Would definitely recommend to someone that wants an easy way to record!
