Comments about Chauvet DFI-PLUS Wireless DMX Transmitter/Reciever:
Technical Director for a theater troupe which uses several venues. We typically only have 2 days for technical setup. Before going DMX512 wireless we had to run several hundred feet of DMX cable... untangling cables!!! Connections coming loose...Connectors breaking...who has time to troubleshoot and fix cabling issues?
We have 36 portable dimmers and intelligent lights. After going DMX wireless setup is much easier and faster and we have fewer problems during the shows. We group the dimmers and intelligent lights so we just have short DMX cable daisy chain runs.
The unit which is setup as the DMX transmitter can also have a cable run out of it if lights are near the console.
One problem is the nuts that hold the antenna come loose if you rotate the antenna. Getting a wrench in to tighten them is very difficult and come loose again if you rotate the antenna again...some Loctite on both nuts might help.

Comments about Chauvet DFI-PLUS Wireless DMX Transmitter/Reciever:
The D-Fi is a convenient wireless pack for DMX lighting. If lighting crosses large gaps or different sides of the room, the D-Fi will help solve the problem.
I use the D-Fi for uplighting and decorative lighting. It helps to get to different parts of a room where you gaffing wires is not desirable. I also use it to link different decorative lighting which are physically far from each other.
It is NOT battery operated and requires a standard outlet. Set-up is extremely easy and no DMX setting is required. It acts as a simple go-between in lieu of DMX cables.

Comments about Chauvet DFI-PLUS Wireless DMX Transmitter/Reciever:
This system works great!!! I have 3 of them. I set one up as a transmitter and two as a receivers. The units come with instructions but you won't need them. They are super easy to use. There is no "lag time" at all. Saves me a ton of time when I'm setting up. I even showed my girlfriend how to use them.

MINIMUM OF TWO
•Requires two units for operation per universe
•Functions as transmitter or receiverAnswered on 12/1/2010 by LR from PSSLA:
You'll need at least 2. One will be a receiver and one will be a transmitter. You can add more units if you'd like. They would just be setup as additional receivers. These are cool and they always work. I own 3 units and love them.Answered on 10/3/2011 by Dj Patrick B. from Santa BarbaraA:
a min of 2 units. only 1 unit can be set as the transmitter (per universe if using more than 1 universe). you can have as many receivers as you need. the unit switches between trx/receiver with the push of a button. all units in the universe must be set to the same frequency. freq is easily changed w/up down buttons. units remember settings when unplugged.Answered on 1/25/2012 by TCG from Heber City, Utah
