Great Light
Pros: Runs Cooler,Bright,Efficient,Compact,Easy Setup,Long Beam Throw

I've bought the Slim Par 56 lights and I'm very impressed with the brightness, size and design. I have use the Slim Par 56 for uplighting behind my dj area and in the corners of a ballroom. The lights are very transportable. I use a shotgun case to protect and transport the Slim Par 56. I plan to buy more.
I plan to buy the other members of the Slim Par series when available. Great product.

Great things come in
Pros: Long Beam Throw,Runs Cooler,Bright,Efficient,Easy Setup

I own 6 Chauvet SLIMPAR56's, they are Great little lights. I have them in a home Music Studio Called the Peacock. The room is set up to look like a small Theatre complete with a Full working stage and sound/lighting booth. The lights are perfect for what I need (a nice bright wash light)I run them DMX. I would highly recommend them to a band of any size, Dj, or small Theatre!!

Great Value, Nice Accent
Pros: Easy Setup,Runs Cooler

I've been considering adding lights into my DJ package. In the past I had a whole bunch of lights and a truss. I ended up giving the gear away because it was too much hassle. But the recent advances in lighting technology has caused me to reconsider.
I just bought two of these units and I'm very happy with them. I zip tied them to the top of my speakers and connected them to each other with one as sound activated master and the other as slave. It added some color to the gig, without being too overpowering. Between dance sets, I set the lights to a slow fade, which also looked great. I'm considering getting a few more.

what is the proper way to link the lights?
A shopper on Nov 9, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Don't fully understand your question. There are two possible "linking systems" -- the first is power, and the second is DMX. On the back of the light there are four receptacles: power in, power out, DMX in, and DMX out. Connecting the "in" from one light to the "out" on another light would successfully link the lights. For power, that's all you need to know. For DMX, one would need to consult the user's manual to set each light up on its own DMX channel. Hope this helps.
Do these include POWER Cables?

bill on Jul 23, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes, any unit we sell that requires power should come with a power cable/adapter unless otherwise specified.
Looking at the Chauvet slim par 56. Wanted to know wattage, how many colors? And how easy is it to set the colors on the slow fade, and other settings?
Joel on Apr 28, 2014
BEST ANSWER: This Chauvet SlimPAR 56 Slim LED RGB Par Can has total wattage of 27 and individual LED wattage of .25. This has three colors, red green and blue (RGB), and it is very easy to control the different effects of these lights with 3 or 7 channels of DMX control. Also provided are static colors and RGB color mixing with or without DMX.
Would these work well as side lights for musicals? I am always looking for flexibility. Also do these dim very well? I have used several LEDs where the fade is terrible, and they pop on and off. Thanks!
ASKIII on Oct 25, 2013
BEST ANSWER: It really depends on what level we're talking about here. For professional Broadway musicals, absolutely not. For a kid's play, possibly but I'd still get something a bit higher end. If you're sticking with Chauvet, I'd say go with the SlimPar 64s at the bare minimum. However, my recommendation is to go even higher end than that. The fades on all our LED units are good.
I am looking this light for a photo studio. I prefer RGB lighting as it creates more vivid color. Would I need to have a separate controler or can i turn the lights to R, G, B, and all colors directly?
Finally, I have a small studio (the light will be close to the model)and am looking for a wash of light. Is this a good choice or should I look for another?
Tomas on Oct 17, 2013
BEST ANSWER: You can change the colors on the unit directly but to be able to do better color mixing and get the colors in between red, green, and blue (purple, orange, yellow, etc.), I would strongly recommend a lighting controller, even if it's a tiny one like the Obey 4 by Chauvet. As a wash light, I'd recommend moving up to the SlimPar64 RGBA, as you get an additional color LED to color mix with (Amber), giving you better control over the shades of your colors.
I see most recommendations and comments about the Slimpar56 related to uplighting and/or truss-warming. I was wondering how practical these would be in a stage application for a band. I have 10 traditional halogen Par56 and was considering replacing them with Slimpars. We play mostly small venues (bars, small clubs) so we don't have to light a particularly large area. (Stages may be up to 20' x 10' if we're lucky!) Trying to cut down on weight & heat. What do you think?
Chris on Sep 19, 2012
BEST ANSWER: The Chauvet Slimpar 56 would be a perfect replacement for the traditional halogen par 56. With the LED technology in the Slimpar56 you would not have to worry about duty cycles or lights burining out quickly. Plus LED's are much brighter than halogen lights. You man also want to look into the ADJ Mega Par Profile. American Dj has a "jelly" series of the light as well as a "Go" series which is battery powered.
I have 10 from ceiling to floor. What is the most efficient (cost/spacing) to downlight. (the space is 50' x 90')
Rusty on Aug 20, 2012
BEST ANSWER: 10 of these lights would be a great option to go with to downlight.
I understand they can be red green and blue but can you mix the colors to form for ex. purple, yellow or teal without a controller??
Kramer on Aug 17, 2012
BEST ANSWER: Yes. You can do this with or without a controller. Without a controller, you have switches on the back of the unit to toggle through and mix the color's.
I am planning to use this recommended lighting mounted on the ceiling to add frontal lighting to a church pulpit, what is the recommended distance from the light to the pulpit area?
Tony Tan on Mar 15, 2011
BEST ANSWER: This slimpar will give you more of a backlight. If you want something that is more direct, I would recommend looking at Altman Ellipsodal lights.
How bright is it? Never understand why LED lighting manufacturers and sellers make that nearly impossible to find. Anything like lumens, equal to ??? watts, even candle power would be better than nothing. PSSL is a great leader so why not set the bar for others to follow?
null on Aug 31, 2010
