I needed a good mobile set of headphones replaced quickly because mine kept breaking from traveling. Although I never heard of Cortex, I took a chance and came out on top. For the price and the quality, it was a GOOD decision. The only downside I have is that the chord, although wounded tight and will not 'stretch out', is a little short. Otherwise, the screw in 8mm - 1/4 inch adaptor, gold plated connections, and deep rich sound make this a great buy.

I'm a DJ who works with others and due mostly to the passing around effect, we tend to break headphones. It's what we do. As such, I've had the opportunity to try several different brands and models in the below $100 price range. And when I come back to buy more of the same after breaking a pair like I am right now, it says something. These headphones broke where many do: the adjustable plastic slider near the ear. But they proved sturdy and well built in all other ways. They won't blow or just die, lose an ear, or suffer from faulty wiring, lose connections like some of the cheaper ones have. They deliver excellent power for the price, handling far mar than most in this range before becoming distorted or crackling. They have HEAVY Bass.. which can be good or bad depending on what you're looking for. It took some getting used to. Musicians playing instruments will likely prefer something more balanced, less bassy. But now that I'm used to it, I wish my car knocked this hard.
