It would be nice if we could all afford Drawmer dynamics units for our Live Sound/PA rigs. But when you're an ankle biter, you need solid performance at a reasonable price. For basic dynamics, the dbx 166XL fits the bill. You're not going to want to use this unit high-end recording, and I doubt you'll find it used at FOH in a touring rig, but for my small soundco, these units are indispensable for dynamics channel inserts, compressing and limiting monitors feeds, etc. I've had them for years, and have never had a problem. I wish I had a bit more control over the gate functionality, but it would probably make the unit too hard to use if you stuck any more knobs on it.
