I am a multi-op DJ Company in Northern California and I write product reviews for DJ Times Magazine. I would have to say this is currently my favorite product of the year! I have used many (if not all) other Hardware Controllers with various software programs and this is the BEST by far! Denon and Serato have finally come up with the perfect combination for me as a multi-op. I personally use Serato Scratch with the Denon HC-4500 but these are just as good - if not better. Serato Itch is as stable as it's sister software (Scratch) that's used by all celebrity DJ's. GREAT JOB DENON & SERATO!

Is this unit more user friendly when it comes to reading files and folders on an external hard drive. If you were using Serato Scratch Live you would need the control CDs. The DNHC5000 has a built in sound card and is designed to be a controller for Serato Itch. The additional BU4500 cd attachment is an additional option with this unit so you will have multiple capabilities with the DNHC5000, but it will work with Serato Itch without the BU4500.Answered on 5/13/2010 by J.J. @ PSSL from PSSL
