DENON DN-D6000 Dual CD/MP3 Player: Advanced Functions For CDs And MP3s

The Denon DN-D6000 is the latest addition to their acclaimed line of dual CD/MP3 Players. The rack-mountable DN-D6000 professional dual CD/MP3 player boasts an extensive MP3 feature set and Next Track Reserve with crossfade function. It is ideal for mobile DJs, club DJs and other working DJs. The DN-D6000 can also provide unattended ?playback on power-up? function, making it great for bars and restaurants, especially at opening time.

The advanced MP3 playback mode fully supports seamless looping with B Point Trim, scratching, hot starts and MP3 effects; CBR and VBR (constant or variable bit rate) encoding up to 320 kbps; ID3 Tags (files embedded into the MP3 that display Title, Artist, Album); and MP3 File Search System (offering fast and easy file location by name). The Next Track Reserve function allows the DJ to store hundreds of MP3s on one disc and play them back-to-back. The DJ is able to search for a song by name and crossfade seamlessly to that file for a smooth non-stop mix. The crossfade time is user-adjustable and Next Track Reserve is also available for CD audio discs.

In addition to advanced MP3 functionality, the DN-D6000 includes 7 essential onboard effects such as scratch, reverse, brake, filter, flanger, echo and the world's first echo loop, which can loop a 1/4 beat up to a 8/1 beat indefinitely, allowing a DJ to overlay another track or even a new disc for a seamless crossfade mix. Other useful features include: quick loading slot-in drives; 15 second Onboard sampler with pitch, B-Trim, volume control and 3-way playback (loop/single/all) edit options. Platter effects including drag-start, brake and reverse effects that can be used for MP3 or CD audio discs. You also get two seamless loops, B Point loop Trim and a 70mm jog disc with user-definable paper slipmats. Check out the 3-way BPM counter (automatic, tapping, manual). With features such as fast search/manual search and quick jump, the DN-D6000 makes searching fast and easy, enabling DJs to literally ?jump? around within a CD or MP3 track using precise adjustable increment time steps.

For the ultimate in control and ?feel? during live performance, a special platter hold function provides pitch bend by the scratch disc of up to ?100%. Additionally, ID3 Tags are supported for MP3 files, which allow the DJ to view the artist, album and title of a particular file. A realtime instant start (0.02 seconds) playback mechanism and 20 second shock proof memory ensure instant audio playback and uninterrupted performance. In addition, the DN-D6000 features a fader start control terminal that's compatible with all Denon DJ mixers and 17 customizable preset functions so DJs can tailor functionality to their individual needs.

I have used this machine and is a really bad one. It does not maintain the time, not recommended for club djs. You touch the pich control and the bpm jumps in irregular increments. Difficult to understand and learn the buttons and effects.

Comments about Denon DND6000 Dual CD Player:

I Have used the Denon DN-D6000 for about 5 months now and would never go anywhere with out it. This IS A MUST HAVE. I Work in a club where we play all sorts of music from country, rock, top 40 dance and techno/Trance. The Platters are a bit small and could be a hair larger but the pitch lock and effects are one of a kind. I also do many mobile gigs as well and have a pair for that too. If you need a larger platter go for the S1000's but if you need a compact dual cd unit, this is perfect.

This is a great Cd player from Denon. I've had one for 2 years now. Great features!

Cons: Real finicky when used with Denon x300 mixer and metal rack rails. Have to turn the CD player on first, then the mixer or the left bay freaks out and won't boot up properly.
And the Jog Discs don't perform as well as I'd like them to. Feel like toys.

Comments about Denon DND6000 Dual CD Player:

I've had this for a short while and do admit that I haven't spent as much time with it as I need to. I've run it through most functions and features though.

Truly realistic sounding digital effects and very rugged quality make this near perfect for the club & live remix DJ. The "platter wheel" works great, though I needed a bit too hard a finger pressure to activate it for my taste.

I'm a Wedding DJ (used to be club DJ for 20 years)and am diasppointed that this feature packed unit does NOT have a disc program capability like my old Numark CDN88 (that I accidentally burnt up). I've looked...I can't find it!

The many buttons with multi-functions, depending on what parameter is set for them, can be confusing and intimidating for the novice, but plenty of play-time with it should make for rapid manipulation of the seemingly endless features.

The MP3 function worked good but I noticed it does not allow the time display to read time remaining...it counts up, which requires the DJ to know how much time a song has left. Not too important for the beat mixer (since most will mix out of tracks well before they end) but is valuable for the DJ that does not beat mix. If it does have this feature, it's hidden in a sub-menu I have yet to find.

I do notice that the sound quality from the DND6000 is slightly better than the Numark CDN88, giving the music a better depth and overall dynamic range.
If you are a "live" DJ and need total control over the track for heavy remixing with realistic turntable effects/emulation, this unit is very hard to beat and highly recommended.

If you rely on programming tracks on a disc for continuous play (example: to play a sequence of songs while you're out on the dancefloor interacting/leading the crowd, or having to use the restroom)--rather than just letting the disc play through--this is not the unit for you.

Denon has hit another homerun with the DND6000 for the "live" remix DJ...but comes a bit short for the "programming" DJ.
