JBL MRX-525 DUAL 15IN/800W @ 4 OHMS 2-WAY SPKR

The MRX525 is an excellent choice when the application calls for high performance and simplicity. A pair of MRX525s and a single, high-power amplifier is a complete sound system capable of reinforcing bass and kick drum or playing high-level music in clubs and other venues. The MRX525 is comprised of two 15" 265H Differential Drive? woofers with combined power handling of 800 watts (continuous). For the high frequencies, 2408H 1.5" annular polymer diaphragm, neodymium compression driver is mounted to a 70? x 70? horn. The 70? coverage angle of the MRX525 is wide enough to provide coverage of an audience when used one-per-side yet narrow enough to allow splaying of multiple enclosures without excessive coverage overlap. The enclosure is constructed of quality plywood and coated in JBL's rugged DuraFlex? finish. The attractive CNC-machined, 16-gauge steel grille wraps around the sides of the enclosure. The grilles are internally lined with an acoustically transparent screen to provide additional driver protection and give a very professional appearance.

JBL MRX -525 SPEAKERS
Pros: Easy To Connect,Crisp Sound,Attractive Design,Great Sound Quality,Powerful
Cons: TWEETER-ISSUE

GREAT SPEAKERS, THE ONLY BAD THING IS, I HAVE BLOWN THE HIGHS TWICE IN BOTH OF THE SPEAKERS THAT I OWN WHILE DOING A PARTY. NO THE SYSTEM DID NOT CLIP, AND THE HIGHS WHERE SET AT 11:00 IN THE CHANNEL. THE TWEETERS COST RIGHT AT $ 180 TO GET THEM FIXED. TRYING TO REACH JBL TO GIVE ME MORE INSIGHT ON WHY THIS HAS HAPPENED. THAT IS THE ONLY CON ISSUE FROM ME. I LOVE THESE SPEAKERS JUST NEED TO GET PAST THE TWEETER ISSUE.

what amp would run the jbl speakers
Mike on Mar 10, 2010
BEST ANSWER: I suggest running a Crown or QSC amp that pushes 1600w at 4ohms per channel for 2 of these speakers.
Hi... I have a concern and need to know if I am doing something wrong or if i need to up-grade my speakers! I own a pair of MRX Series 525, 528, and 515. My 525 speakers are getting distorted.

I bridge all my speakers. Each sub is plugged into one amp QCS (PLX 3402). My 525 speakers are plugged into one amp QSC(SLX5000). My 515 are also plugged into amp Cerwin Vega (2800).

My last gigs have been in large venues up to 300 - 400 guests and i have noticed that my speakers are not keeping up with the size of the venues.

They sound great but my amps are not clipping either. This last event on sat., my 525 sounded like the speakers wanted to give up on me, as though the speakers were loosing power and like they wanted to blow up on me during the event.

Any suggestions because next month (July) i am booked the entire month and am concern.

BEST ANSWER: You should definetly look into the JBL PRX Series. These speakers will be able to handle any application that they are used for.
Can you crossover these speakers and if not what amp and eq would be best for them?
ButchA on Sep 24, 2010
BEST ANSWER: The JBL MRX-525 Dual 15In/800W @ 4 Ohms 2-Way Speaker can be used with most crossovers.
