Comments about Mackie SA 1521Z Powered 15 2 Way Speaker *:
I've worked in pro audio for years and DJ not only as a hobby but as a profession. Never have I received so many praise over my audio equipment as I have with a set of these. Yes... a bit heavy to put on a tripod by myself... but it gets done and they sound amazing. Add a sub for a little bit extra bass and whalah! Its a night and day difference between these and the other popularized brand active speakers. Too bad this model is already discontinued.... I would definitely recommend them to anyone who is interested in buying some good tops.

I had this baby on a chain with one Mackie V2 450(which have been amazing for me) and coil started burning up within an hour, same thing happened to my 1530Z, but I didn't get to that one in time & fuze blew. Both at like 1/8th power too... hardly put any juice into it.

Comments about Mackie SA 1521Z Powered 15 2 Way Speaker *:
I bought these speakers back in May 2006 and they have been my primary speakers since then; approximately 300 gigs and counting. I consistently recieve compliments on how great they sound and when doing outdoor venues they still impress the masses. My DJ friends all say they're too heavy; I say they're too old and lazy! Weighing in @ 101lbs., they're not for everyone but if you want a speaker that can really rock the house...this is it! One more thought, any type of sonic maximizer is not recommended. I used one with my speakers for a year straight and found that I was overdriving my speakers...had to replace (3) HF drivers, 1st (2) under warranty, they last I paid for. Bottom Line...Unbelievably HOT for a 15in 2-way active speaker but a little heavy compared to most in this class.

After reading the dude from Texas rant, I just had to set things straight. I've beat the hell out of my SAs for years and made many folks deaf with the power. He must have a bum batch cause mine rock and have been for years. Add a sub for a big room and you are set. Even had a jet ski splash one of them with a huge wave and it survived!!!

Comments about Mackie SA 1521Z Powered 15 2 Way Speaker *:
Mackie didn't live up to it's name on this one. The new 450V2 monitors are a speaker to love, but I took this baby out on it's first drive & though I gave enough space as manual stated to give for breathing room, and only used about a 25% of it's max capability; within an hour another sound guy said he smelled burning coils; sure enough... it was the Mackie, and barely at a quarter strength. I don't have the time to return or sell and lose money, but I surely won't put it in big rooms or use more than a quarter ever. I just feel like I spent 1K on a speaker that is less powerful than my monitor.
