Comments about Native Instruments NI MASCHINE Groove Production Studio Controller:
Well worth the price! However it did take me a while to actually pick up Maschine because of the price. I was not too sure what to expect but having have the product for a few weeks I am VERY happy with its performance!
My recommendation is to watch a few YouTube videos to get yourself started. I think within 45 mins I was good to go on my own and really start exploring the box and what it can do.
The factory sound bank is insane. The Drums are probably one of the greatest features on this box. Though other sounds are too just as great but the drums are insane.
The FX on the box are a bit limited in my opinion. However I think there are enough to get the job done and I am sure more are on the way. I am also sure there are other sound banks and FX settings you could put into maschine. However I've yet to research this. FX are basic. Reverb, EQ's, Compression, Phaser. Filters. Basically your basic FX you'd find on all Groove Boxs.
Sampling is easy, straight forward and took a few viewings on Youtube to get the general knowledge and idea of how to use the features. Once I grabbed them I was on a tear, much like everything on this box.
Software, the main program Maschine uses is also easy to pick up. It can be used to make traditional tracks and also live sets. The scene feature is awesome for live sets and you could easily pack a whole live set in a group of scenes.
Since getting this box i've banged out 4 solid tunes and have worked on several more.
Overall I say this is a great bridge from Hardware into Software. Even if you've been using both for sometime, maschine is very easily picked up. Giving you the right amount of time to learn its features but more time actually putting down solid beats.

Comments about Native Instruments NI MASCHINE Groove Production Studio Controller:
Great lightweight and compact, but packs a punch in performance. Had some issues when first released about a year ago, but the lastest patch 1.1 fixes those issues and adds some great features. Can be learned and used as a stand alone, or for more versatility can be used with its own DAW. Learning to use is as easy as watching a few youtube videos and playing around with it yourself.

Comments about Native Instruments NI MASCHINE Groove Production Studio Controller:
i own it. and i must say when i first started using it i was wondering why i spent so much on it because it was kind hard to use. i even thought of at one time of taking it back but, after lookin at N.I.'s vidoes it helped me out alot on how to use it. so far the only thing i don't like about it is the cost. that is high for something like that. but, after using it. i really like it. and just be aware though that it may not sample like it says it will under windows vista media center edition. i had to use it on my old pc running. windows xp home edition with sp2. i will try again later on windows vista with media center. what stopped me was this driver called waspi under windows vista w/media center. something like that. i will try again later to see if i can get it to work and i will post it here what i done to get it to work.

Yes, I am using this product with a Dual 1.8 PowerPC G5 (OS X 10.5.8) with only 1GB of ram. The program runs without issue. I may have to close other programs if my song has several tracks and is a bit busy, to preserve my limited memory. But should rock well with your settings.
