Comments about Numark CDN88 Dual CD Player With Scratching FX:
I have always preferred CD players and mixers that allow me to keep my attention on the audience as well as the music. This unit is solid and dependable. It has controls and buttons that respond instantly to the cue points and tasks that I am performing at that moment. The digital dispays are well lit in darkened venues and the control panel and effects are crisp, clean and easy to understand. I have three of these units and thoroughly enjoy the interaction I have with them. I have tried other brands and models but always come back to the this particular unit. This has always been the one for my business!

Comments about Numark CDN88 Dual CD Player With Scratching FX:
I have used only Numark CD players and mixers in my DJ rigs and studio for many years so I had high hopes for the CDN-88. I purchased it less than 2 months ago and have used it in my studio. I love the features on this unit but it is not very durable. It takes a long time to read discs and in less than 2 months, the right deck tray door won't open, can't play discs. I had to send back to Numark for repair. I have a Numark CDN-22 that I have used in my DJ rig every week for over 5 years and it is still working working great. Numark quality sure isn't what it used to be.

Comments about Numark CDN88 Dual CD Player With Scratching FX:
The CDN88 is an older model now but it still holds its own in the DJ industry. It is extremely user friendly and intuitive. I was able to teach myself how to use most features without the need of the manual...unlike the Denon DND6000 which is pretty complicated.
The Beat Interlock is a dream to use and helps to make the average and novice DJ a great beat mixer. The visual LEDs help to really nail that tempo match. Its auto feature can mess up depending on well how it locates the beat of the track, causing it to mess up pretty bad. I found the best method is to match the beats yourself, then push the Interlock button and the beats will now be locked as long as you wish. The unit automatically adjusts the speed of the "slave" track to keep the beats perfectly locked. This enabled me to activate and focus on various digital effects to make the mix even more dramatic and fun for the crowd.
Speaking of effects, they are extremely easy to access and manipulate. I only wish it enabled multiple FX at the same time, rather than just one. Still, the sound quality was extremely high. When you activate an FX, you can then move the jog wheel to change the "wave" or parameter of that FX to a great sound. You will quickly find your favorite FX's and play with them to pull off some incredible remix effects and mixes.
The digial scratch function was very good, creating very realistic vinyl scratch emulation, but not as good as the Denon DND6000's. I think it might be due to the jog wheel not being flat like the Denon's.
The anti skip memory is one of the best I've used so far...I simply could NOT get this unit to skip...even when I tried to test it by picking up the front end of the player unit and dropping it about 4 inches (not recommended!).
This unit is THE mixer for the DJ that needs to be able to program tracks on a single disc in various order to suit the event. I often (at weddings, where club style beat mixing is not really needed) program both discs and then set the unit for auto blending. The music now plays in my set order and segues the tracks automatically in a truly smooth fashion. While I was out interacting with the crowd, and the unit running on auto, I've often had guests look up to see who was mixing! The unit will even allow a blending segue of subsequent tracks on the SAME disc, and the overlap is user adjustable.
My only wish is that this unit played MP3 as well. Due to its age, this wasn't really available then, as is now with updated models.
Due to a connection mistake, my CDN88, got damaged and (due to the immediate need for a CD player) I ended up getting a Denon DND6000. While the Denon is an amazingly powerful DJ tool, I personally prefer the CDN88 over the DND6000 due its programming flexibility and ease of accessing the digital effects.
Due to its age, the price of this unit has really dropped, and if MP3 is not a concern for you, grab the CDN88 and begin to thrill the crowd immediately with very little training.
You will NOT be disappointed!
