As a mobile DJ I gig at a great variety of work situations. It IS convenient to have a CD / Hard drive, and other features such as pitch/key lock,etc, but this product is a huge disappointment. It is NOT user friendly, needs better operating instructions, a WELL lit keyboard, or maybe a gooseneck light plug in. When playing a CD ou can NOT send different traks to bothe decks at the same time, and that's just for starters!Also,the search time is slow in my opinion, but faster than the time it takes to get hold of tech support from Numark! Tech support is not customer friendly. I can't imagine more than one year of use @ 3 to 5 times a week. Make sure you have a backup!

I own a mobile DJ service and use this product doing parties and weddings. The HDMix is a great unit for mobile set-ups. It's multimedia capabilities make your set-ups and breakdowns quick, clean and easy. Using the librarian software is a breeze and everything plays smoothly with no skips or freeze-ups. I love being able to play everything from one unit and not having to set-up a laptop, separate cd players etc. The only cons that I can say about the HDMix is that it doesn't give you as much information as a laptop program would probably due to the size of the screen. For example so far I've found that when you search for tracks the name of the track and the artist will come up on the screen but not the album, at times I would like to be able to see which album I'm pulling a track from because it could be a different version from one album to the next. Of course I just purchased the unit and may still may not have discovered how to see all of that as of yet! The other con would be the blue audio level displays for each channel are very hard to read when setting the levels of a track. It seems like it's one light that kind of flashes up the scale instead of individual digital lights like most mixers have. All in all though I think it's a great unit and I would recommend it to anyone!

Forget the bad review, I've used this thing as well as the D2 Director and they have been flawless. I LOVE the HDMIX. Use the Librarian software and you will have zero issues. The unit I used had a different hard drive (the 80 gig unit it comes with is replaceable and this one had 320) and it was incredible! Also had a flash drive and a mp3 cd in the drive. Flawlessly moved between them. I've never had a skip or freeze up (knock on wood) on a Numark D2 or this unit. On a Cortex unit, happens all the time. Only thing I wish this unit had was one more pot with two line inputs. Do you need it? Probably not, just a comfort zone for me and my guys. I have 12 units out and this thing may be the new system for all of them down the road. In the case it is perfect and its a LOT lighter than a console case. Love It, Love It, Love It.

A great machine that is ahead of it's time. The only downfall is that it skips at time when one deck is playing and the other loads. But it is small. But needs to be corrected.

This product is great! If you read the other guy that left a poor review you will not get the TRUE evaluation of this product! That customer obviously did not use Numarks library software to arrange his audio files so that the Numark HD mix would work. I own this unit as well as Numarks DDS80 system and I am a happy user. YOU MUST GO ONLINE NUMARK.COM print the directions and read them! You must also use their librarian software to organize your files... EASY!!! I am a professional DJ with 6 units on the road and they are either DDS80 units or the HDMIX. I have NEVER had this unit freeze up or fail me!

I purchased this equipment because of the ease of everything in one. This instructions that came with the machine were minimal. Once I placed the HDMIX in the flight case it weight close 50 lbs pound and was bulky(1st strike). I currently used serato with turntables and I used my same files in my portable hard drive and the system did not recognize alot of files (at least 20%, 2nd strike) the second time I used the equipment for a few minutes it froze and this was just playing with the hdmix at home. The third time I got a file error and the equipment shut down and did not turn back on. Thanks but no thanks numark

On the back of the unit, there will be a Master Out with RCA connections. There are products (Tascam DR-100 Portable Digital Recorder or Zoom H1 Handy Portable Recorder, for example) with a Line In input that can then be connected from the Master Out (RCA/ red & white connections) to the Line In input.
