THE MONITOR FOR WORKING DJs

Every DJ or musician needs a solid set of active monitors. Whether you are just practicing or heading to a small gig, having a solid set of monitors can make a big difference. With NPM100 you can have professional quality sound in an easily-to-transport mobile speaker system with all the right inputs. Numark’s NPM100 is a complete active stereo speaker system with built-in amplifiers that is perfect for bars, practice studios, small to medium-sized setups or anywhere that premium quality sound is required.

POWERFUL PERFORMANCE

NPM100’s 100W RMS (200W peak) extended-range dual 5” drivers accurately reproduce music for DJs, musicians or anyone looking for pro-quality sound. NPM100 works with virtually all music gear thanks to a standard stereo RCA line input. The built-in gain control allows for quick adjustments when used without a mixer and the quarter-inch / XLR combi input allows unbalanced or balanced inputs. A sensitivity switch toggles between +6dB for use with mixers and -45dB for direct connection of a mic to ensure that no matter what the gig might hold, NPM100 monitors can handle it. A convenient red LED indicator is also present to indicate whenever a signal is clipping so levels can be adjusted accordingly.

Comments about Numark NPM100 Portable Powered Monitor (Each):

Use: I use this in a "bedroom" setup and also use these at house parties and small venues.

I bought a pair of these after owning the Numark NPM5s for about two years and must say what a difference these make! These monitors are three times more powerful than the NPM5s. They are a lot more heavier and are made to withstand some serious "on the road" wear and use. Unlike the NPM5s which only require one power plug, the NPM100s both require their own power source.

There is a cool looking blue light that illuminates when the speaker is turned on. It's located on the back of the unit next to the power switch. This blue LED light is so bright that I use it as a ambient light when its dark. These monitors come with mounting points for speaker stands and can be mounted several different ways. The monitor can be placed in the upright position like in the photo, or placed in the landscape position on it's side. When placed in this position, the speakers are facing up at a pretty good angle.

The overall appearance and construction of these monitors is great. After owning the NPM5s, it is clear that the NPM100s are built to withstand some serious knocking around. Each NPM100 is about 17lbs and will not rattle or move around where ever it is placed. The NPM5s would sometimes rattle away and move around when played at high volumes, the NPM100s are solid performers! There is a gain knob on the back of each monitor that can be adjusted from 0 to 10 to tweak your sound. Unlike the NPM5s which have a gain treble and bass, the NPM100s do not. They are primarily powered monitors so any EQ adjustments will need to be made by the mixer or interface being used.

After about 20 minutes of use, the monitors became very warm, but there is a heat sink on the back of each monitor to help cool the amp and speaker system. There is also a clip light that will blink RED when the monitor is breaching it's peak performance of 200W. Although it would be hard to clip with these speakers due to their compact powerful performance, it's good to have a warning that you are about to blow the unit!

        PROS:

Great sound reproduction, these monitors are LOUD!
        Tough construction, built to last
Powerful enough to be used at a small bar or club
        Great for house parties
        XLR, RCA, and 1/4 inputs

        CONS:

The neighbors will not like your new monitors!
No indented handle or grip to pick-up and move around the unit
Power cord could be a little longer

In conclusion, if your on the market for a pair of serious monitors for either home use (I feel sorry for your neighbors) or at small to average size bar or outdoor event, look no further. These monitors will perform every time and for the price, you can't go wrong! I highly recommend these monitors!

            A:

Yes, you can link them together if your mixer or controller is connectable by RCA. It only has one mic input so it would be connected by XLR.
