NS7 combines an all-metal chassis with adjustable torque, motorized, aluminum-turntable platters, vinyl, and a professional audio interface to deliver a complete performance solution that will satisfy even the most hardcore turntablist. A full complement of premium faders, knobs, buttons and our new Strip Search (patent pending) virtual-needle-drop control integrates seamlessly with the included Serato ITCH software. I got the NS7 in March 2009 and so far it has given me an excellent way to DJ when doing Club events as well as private events. It's very mobile when it comes to transporting and its really fast to setup. Coming from Traktor Scratch, Turntables and Mixer setup, the NS7 has brought my setup time from a fast 15 setup to a even faster 1 minute plug in play time. I like how the same crates list from Scratch Live that I use also shows up on Serato Itch.Serato Itch has alot gotten better with the newest update and will probably get even better with more updates.
Now for the downside.
Hardware-
After a few months now one of the hot cue buttons (#5)(Left Deck) does not respond and not longer works. Volume controls on the NS7 (Headphones) & (Main Volume) are not consistent. Knobs tend to be soft then when increasing the volume you all of a sudden jumps to loud. It tends to be effecting the volume from 0% to about 35% of increasing the volume. All ready in contact with a Numark support tech. and has advise me to send it in for repair.
Software-
The Itch Program has failed on me about 5 times from freezing to a complete crash. My Macbook is very stable to run itch with 4 gig ram and 2.2 processor. Having a ipod saved me so many times when having to restart my computer. Again lots of bugs to be flattened out with newer updates. There are not built in effects so you are going to have to be creative with making your own effects.
In the end, it's still a new product that will only get better in time with updates. For the price,mobility, software and setup you cant beat a better device than this.

Supposedly was fully compatible with numark cue......platters wont spin, laggs when i drag a song to deck......Itch sucks......upgraging my ram to gigs tomorrow and maybe that will fix some of the issues......on the good side its a breeze to set up and everyone who comes over to me when i play say it loks great......i spent alot of cash on this so im gonna use it for the time being but i bet in march we will be seeing much better controllers than this.......i like my old hercules mk2 way better than this

I ordered my NS7 off this site a few weeks ago via International checkout, Got it 4 days ago and even though it says "reconditioned" it works and looks like it's brand new. I have had no problems yet and would recommend buying this unit for any dj who loves the feel of a turntable...I mapped mine with Virtual Dj and now I can do amazing music video sets in any club that has screens....Thanx Again..Clint - clintonblanchard[@] (Cape Town - South Africa)

I actually traded a guy my 1200's and Numark mixer for this unit and I can't be happier. Although I love Technics and will definitely by another pair, for mobile gigs, this unit can't be beat. It's been solid for me, no glitches.

First, let me say that I've read all the reviews on here. Unfortunately, I have to disagree with some of the more negative reviews of this products.
I had this thing preordered 6 months before it was release and got one of the first shipped.
It's undeniable that this is by far the greatest innovation of the digital dj since the first cd turntable first dropped (had a set of those too). To have a piece of HARDWARE give you this level of control over virtual files is no less than amazing.
I was extremely skeptical about buying the NS7, but had done my legwork in researching it. What I saw impressed me so I took a chance and was not at all disappointed. Is it a little rough around the edges... that's debatable. Although people have criticized the quality of the it by belittling the Numark brand... this is very well constructed piece of equipment Numark or otherwise. I believe as may have said, that the flaws lay in the software not the hardware. Agree that effects would be nice, but expect that to come in the near future.
I agree that the software could use some work but have no doubt the updates will address many concerns that people have. I work in the IT industry and you really have to understand that no piece of software is flawless - it's unrealistic to think so. It's a never ending testing process to work through the bugs both before and after release. This is why companies depend so much on its customers to report bugs when they are found, rather than just bad mouth the product - that doesn't help resolve the issues to make the software better.
People should be mindful of using computers that aren't powerful enough to run serato. Another reviewer had it right... invest in decent equipment and you'll minimize potential problems. Just don't criticize Numark when you're not doing what is the recommend minimum requirements you're supposed to on your end.

*I spin Night Clubs, Private Parties, and Radio Mixshows and this is compact, easy to use, easy to setup and always ready to go. The only thing I can think of that isn't so great about Numark NS7 is I wish they would have came out with this soon :)

I have been a professional DJ for 12+ years starting out on a Dual CDP then to 1200s then Serato. The NS7 was to replace my 1200s, DJM-3000 and Serato... it only replaced part of it. I have to give it to Numark for their innovation... they certainly got the ball rolling on a whole new era of DJ hardware.
The NS7 seems to be a quality product at first glance and touch; it's heavy and seems very solid (for a Numark). After about a week of use its flaws soon become apparent.
I thought long and hard about buying a Numark product because I own no Numark/Gemini or similar non-professional gear. Due to its innovation I made the leap to Numark. If it worked well every time at every gig, they would have a winner, but it's a Numark! They just simply cannot place the time into a truly solid product for real professionals. I would have paid for it in a heartbeat if it were of Rane quality and even $1k more. If you can wait... hold off for a Rane, Pioneer or Denon product, I expect no longer than 6-months we'll see a press release out!
(PS- Itch takes some getting used to and I still prefer Scratch Live... why change the whole look Serato!!???)

The main issue wit this unit is that the software crashes as often as Virtual DJ. There there are NO effects. Even basic effects like a flanger would be nice. The buttons are failing just like in the DAC controllers. Numark had another great idea but failed to make this unit durable and versitile enough for professional standards.
The responce time on a Scratch was great and the set-up is very user friendly. Turn Tables meet CDJs all in one

It's a 1st gen so the glitches and kinks will be there. One of the first in line to get the ns7 and so far excellent product. if you got a solid comp/laptop with it and make the right adjustments, it will go smooth. i went through some technical laptop configs, but that's seperate from the ns7 unit itself, so get a sweet laptop to go with this monster product.
