We have just bought two PV-118s used. They have the crossovers eliminated from the circuit. (The jacks are wired directly to the driver.) When used with an external crossover and dedicated amp (providing only 150Hz-40Hz as recommended on the spec sheet), will this change specs or performance in any way?
Taxciter on Feb 21, 2012
BEST ANSWER: It might, but usually it doesnt. However, the internal x-over would normally provide some extra speaker protection.
do i need a crossover?

BEST ANSWER: It will depend on the way you want it set up. Please give us a call to speak with one of our product advisers to further assist you.
When using the parallel jack, is the output full range or does the sub frequency go tothe sub. BBasically is the internal crossover a 2-way?
A shopper on Oct 18, 2016
BEST ANSWER: No it's just low end no high
I have a pv115d speaker can I use this with the pv118 without an amp n crossover.
DJ E on Oct 23, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Because this particular speaker does not have an internal amplifier, you will need to hook it up to an external amp to get any sound out of it no matter what. If you don't want to have to invest in or carry around an external amp, I would instead go with the powered version of this speaker, the PV118D.

Great Sub
Pros: Lightweight,Powerful,Versatile,Easy To Use,Clear Sound

I have 2 right now running on a QSC 1450 & going through the Peavey Kosmos . I'm going to add a third next week until the amp tells me thats enough . My DJ partner has the Peavey SP218 but what's the use of having all that power whit no where to play it. The PV118 is more than you need for way less money . If you think back , all clubs had were peavey subs that at the most held 300 watts & they were so loud you could'nt stand it . Think about it . Why do we need all this power.

Lots of bass!
Pros: Great Sound Quality,Easy Setup

I use two of these for DJ large parties. They thump with their own QSC amps. The only problem is that they tend to move around the dance floor on their own due to the vibration. I need to secure them down on hard (non-carpeted) surfaces. Also, small amount of port noise at close range, but hey, there is a lot of air moving around. Good subs for the money and easy to transport.

Better than you think
Pros: Attractive Design,Great Sound Quality,Good Power Output

I do medium to large venues, and trust and believe this sub hits hard lows. Ive had ppl tell me its actually too much bass! I always smile and keep it pumpin. Especially dance music. Its really important to link the right amplifier so it can perform right. I think thats crucial. Im using a qsc gx5. Totally does the job

Definitely thumps..!
Pros: Easy To Set Up,Easy to Mount

Pairing this with 3 PVx 12 speakers for an outdoor movie theater. Driving with Behringer EP2000 and EP4000 amps. Provides excellent sound for movie tracks - we like to hear the explosions rock the house!
