Comments about Peavey SP-FH 18in Folded Horn Subwoofer *:
This speaker has great sound, and has a lot of power and punch in a medium/large sized box.I have been a professional musician and sound man for 35 years, and I've used lots of speakers over that period. I've always liked the impact of horn bass systems, but they can be difficult to EQ, especially if you run sound from the stage, like I do. But these speakers are pretty easy to work with. Many skeptics would say that you can't get good deep bass from a single horn this size. I have'nt found this to be a problem at all.My band does rock cover music, and the excitement these cabs generate more than makes up for any deep bass loss. They sound BIG. I also like the idea of field replaceable baskets. My only complaint is that the construction materials were advertised as: "baltic birch and MDF" (particle board). I opened up the cabs, and I would estimate that there is less than 5% birch Ply in these things. The speaker connection plate is plastic, and appears rather delicate. I also found a speaker screw only screwed half way in, and overall, the cabs appear to have been built hastily. Although particle board does sound good, I know I will have to use extra care moving these things around, and hope that I don't get caught in the rain, for fear that the wood might swell and deteriorate. All in all though, I do recommend these cabs, and I am happy to own them.

Comments about Peavey SP-FH 18in Folded Horn Subwoofer *:
I have 8 of these cabs and they have completely blown me away. I own four CV EL36bs and held off buying more because I wanted more power per cab. The SP FH gave me that AND great sound quality! Don't be swayed by name brand alone. This cab gives everything the other guys give and more at a lower price. Do a side by side comparison and I'm sure you'll agree.
