This is the perfect battle mixer with effects. It feels good, great build quality and just a fun mixer. The control over effects each much easier than using my laptop. The only con on this mixer is the vertical (up faders) are rail (cheap). The crossfader is accurate is feels as good as my Rane. I bought this mixer for the powerful effects-it's no joke!

this is by far the best mixer i have ever used
everything is soo smooth and durable the crossfader is butter with a nice clean cut
everything is adjustable so you can set it according to your style
the price could be cheaper i wish they still made the djm 707 so if you can find that save some money and get that one instad but if you have the cash this is probabbly the best mixer money can buy

This product is just plain solid. It's the end of searching for a top performing mixer. The ONLY wish I have is that the DJM-909 have a 3rd channel. Maybe in an MK2 model?
I've owned the 909 for over 4 years, and have never had a problem with sound, quality, or functionality. There are some effects that it could do without. I usually keep Echo, Delay, and a Filter at the ready when I play out. About 3 months into it a thin line popped up on the digital screen but has never affected the sound or touchscreen itself.
I'm a hip hop dj, so having a quality fader with extreme sensitivity is important. You can dial in your settings for crab effects, juggling, or even choose the resistance of the fader (loose or tight). The fader has never bled, or sounded staticky (still using the original fader). Theres a session input for battles or looping multiple mixers, and mic input (xlr-1/4inch) with channel one allowing you to assign any of the 50 effects to the mic. The High, Mid, and Low frequency controls are accurate and balanced. You have XLR as well as rca main outs, and a booth/record out for all you mixtape dj's.
The 909 also has a seperate 1/4 inch in and out for external effects, maybe for an EFX-500, or EFX-1000.
Out of the box you can tell this is a well put together piece. It's heavy, with a nice sheen finish, and superior sound. DO NOT be intimidated!!! This is a very user friendly mixer.
The Pioneer DJM-909 is a pro and the only one of its kind with touchscreen effects. People knock Pioneer because they may seem a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for, and this unit has paid for itself time and time again.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I own the 707. Basically same things w/o the effects unit or touch screen. But I have used this one as well and it is a very good high quality mixer. I love the x-fader and the channel faders. the added effects unit is overkill for me, I don't really like to use extra effects, but the included tap tempo feature is useful. Anyways if you can afford this get it. Its very high quality and those faders are not going anywhere.
