Comments about American Audio Pocket Record Digital Portable Stereo Recorder:
It was hard to convince myself to purchase this Pocket-Recorder coming from the first generation Micro Track, but let me tell ya', the Microtrack kept and keeps freezing on recordings longer than an hour and a half. This American Audio Pocket Recorder has recorded my dj shows here in Vegas, both at clubs and at the radio station with noooooo problem. I've recorded up to 5 hrs on the SD card and the sound has been great.
Challenges: Getting used to the interface...it's a bit confusing with the cheezy buttons. Once you get it the first time though, it's all good from there. It's unfortunate that it only has 1/4 inch inputs as I would have liked RCAs as well.
Overall, this unit is very nice and quite simple to use (after you learn the interface) - but most importantly, it has been VERY reliable. None of my recordings, unlike on the Microtrack, have been lost or corrupted.

Comments about American Audio Pocket Record Digital Portable Stereo Recorder:
I was looking for an inexpensive recorder for news-type audio, podcasting and perhaps some live music. This unit fit the bill with good sound, NICE real volume control knobs and both built-in and external mics. The internal mics are OK for voice and "on the scene" recording, but the externals are better. I even recorded Christmas Carols on a brand-new 2,000 pipe organ and they were good enough for broadcast on Public Radio AND made into a local-sale CD! So the one job was worth the price. Good battery life too! Cons: A bit confusing interface, but not bad. The case is all plastic, so store it carefully.[...]
