The GX5 is ideal for professional entertainers who require maximum performance and portability on a limited budget. QSC designers, headed by Pat Quilter, have optimized output and appearance while reducing raw material cost and weight. It's all here – dramatic styling, easy hookup and adjustments, excellent audio quality and QSC reliability.
The GX5 delivers just the right amount of power to the most popular speakers used by entertainers. Most loudspeaker manufacturers recommend an amplifier with power output equal to the speaker's "Program (Music) Power" rating or two times (2 x) the "Continuous (RMS) Power" rating.
The GX5 is ideal for speakers in the 300 watt (Program) range, while the GX5 provides full performance for 500 watt (Program) speakers. Both models supply maximum possible power to 4 ohm and 8 ohm loads. Owners of popular 4 ohm loudspeakers (dual-woofer, two-way models and many subwoofers) will find the 700 watt (4 ohm) power of the GX5 an ideal match.
The GX5 uses a Class H system, based on key elements of the PLX Series, almost doubling power in the same size and weight. QSC design expertise allows the output devices to shift from low-power to high-power rails in less than a millionth of a second, ensuring that the output power is always right where it needs to be without excess loss.
The GX5 uses premium toroidal power transformers for reliable "mid-weight" performance. A variable-speed fan moves air crosswise through the amplifier, drawing cool air in over the power transformer, through the fan, and then over the heat sink. This keeps the transformer cool and allows a full size heat sink to fit in a down-sized chassis. As always, the GX Series amplifiers are fully protected from the usual hazards of the trade, ensuring stable performance and long life.
GuardRailGuardRail protection delivers full peak power while preventing detrimental overloads. During excessive clipping, or extreme overheating, GuardRail reduces gain just enough to preserve the integrity of the music, protect the speakers and keep the audience excited, without unprofessional distortion levels or shutdowns.

Comments about QSC GX5 Power Amplifier 500W @ 8 ohms +:
I purchased this amp several years ago, and it gets used hard. It still performs as the day I got it. I really like the fact that it has multiple inputs and speaker outputs. It's lightweight and very powerful. You can't go wrong with this amp for the price. Highly recommended. GX7 is in my picture for my subs!

Comments about QSC GX5 Power Amplifier 500W @ 8 ohms +:
Flawless out of the box. It's first use was for my longest event of the year, two twelve hour days providing music for a Street Painting Festival crowd of around 300 artists and on-lookers. Worked great with good coverage running at about half power. Big surprise was at the end of the first 12 hour day the metal case was still cool to the touch. I think I can see why QSC can put a six year warranty on their product.

I use this amp to power my EV Force i 25 cabinets and I have NEVER clipped this amp. It provides great power and keeps the audio crisp and clear during high volumes. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Only problem I have; not sure how to link audio with other amps or if that is possible.

Comments about QSC GX5 Power Amplifier 500W @ 8 ohms +:
Bought this amp to power a pair of dual 15 JBL JRX's @ 4ohms and could not be happier. When i first set it all up in my room to test it i couldn't go past the half mark on the mixers main volume level. It was just too LOUD!!! Amp has tons of power, sounds crystal clear, runs very quiet, and stays cool. Just wish you could bridge this amp but oh well.

Comments about QSC GX5 Power Amplifier 500W @ 8 ohms +:
I purchased this amplifier to put in my DJ rack and to replace my older Peavey CS-1200 which was supposed to be of greater power output than the GX-5. Much to my surprise, I had to turn the GX-5 volume level down half way and my mixer volume level cut by half of my normal operating levels just to get the same volume as my Peavey was at FULL volume. The GX-5 is also less than 1/3 the weight of my old Peavey. I could not believe the sound quality that I heard from the GX-5 verses my Peavey CS-1200. INCONCEIVABLE! Don't knock the price cause this amp ROCKS!

I'm not going to list specs. You can find them on your own. What I will say is if you're looking for some good power for a good price then you'll want to get the GX5. Common sense puts this amp at the top of the list. I've used the same Peavey 2000 amps for the last 15 years and had no problems. They are rock solid and I would put them next to any amp or brand. I would also say for the money vs. power & weight I would buy the GX5. In fact I'll be purchasing a second one as soon as I'm finished here. Just buy it!

Comments about QSC GX5 Power Amplifier 500W @ 8 ohms +:
I submitted a previous review for this amp, and complained about the x-over. Now I would like to be clear that this amp is nice. I have had a chance to use it at about 6 or 8 gigs now. The x-over is fine, it runs at 4ohms fine, you can't get a better 500W 8ohm stereo for the price. It is a QSC. Sweet. If you need to go lower than 4ohm get something else, or just get 2 of these to cover. I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars because it is not 2 ohm.

Comments about QSC GX5 Power Amplifier 500W @ 8 ohms +:
I hooked it up in crossover mode, and found that my tops are still getting bass sent to them. All I had to do was boost the freq. around 60hz on my EQ and the top's bass gets louder. It should be getting no signal to the tops at this frequency. I still am attracted to the power rating for the $$$. If the rating is true. I have used QSC amps for a long time, they never let me down before. Will be calling QSC on Monday morn.

Comments about QSC GX5 Power Amplifier 500W @ 8 ohms +:
This amp is an unbelieveable purchase for only [$]. The power behind it is amazing. The amp is very small..it's about the size of the CD drawer unit for a dual CD player. With the built in crossover, thats one less unit you have to buy. I run one amp to power my top cabs, and then the GX5 to power my sub. My lows have never come out better. Stays very cool, and hardly clips.

Had Crown amps for years before this, never had any problems. Was looking to switch to QSC for awhile and when this model came out it was the perfect time! Run Yamaha Club Series 15" and the sound is superb. Bought a second model to run my 12" speakers also.

Comments about QSC GX5 Power Amplifier 500W @ 8 ohms +:
This is a great amp. It has 700 watts at 4 ohms perfect to power a full range speaker with a dual 15inch woofer. I have it power 2 EV force 125's and they take 600 watts cont... this throw 700 at them its just great for the price. For [$] bucks nothing i mean nothing is comparable. Its also QSC you cant go rong with them they even back you up with a 6 year warranty free.
