The GX7 amplifier is ideal for professional entertainers who require maximum performance and portability on a limited budget. The GX7 amplifier delivers just the right amount of power to the most popular speakers used by entertainers. Typically, loudspeaker manufacturers recommend an amplifier with power output equal to the speaker's Program (Music) Power rating or two times (2 x) the Continuous (RMS) Power rating. The GX7's 1000 watts will very capably power many of today's popular subwoofers or two typical 8 ohm speakers per channel.
The GX7 adds the road-proven PowerLight supply to the Class H output section, for more overall output power and additional weight savings. The result is one of the highest power-to-weight ratios in the industry. A low-noise variable-speed fan with rear-to-front airflow keeps amplifiers and racks cool.
GuardRail protection delivers full peak power while preventing detrimental overloads. During excessive clipping, or extreme overheating, GuardRail reduces gain just enough to preserve the integrity of the music, protect the speakers and keep the audience excited, without unprofessional distortion levels or shutdowns.
A subwoofer reduces strain on the full-range speaker, allowing it to play louder, or letting a smaller speaker do the same job. The GX7 supports this mode with a Crossover switch that splits the full-range input entering Ch 1, sending 20 Hz -100 Hz to the sub (Ch 1) and 100 Hz - 20 kHz to the top box (Ch 2). The front panel gain controls balance the sub and top box, while GuardRail optimizes peak power into the sub and top individually, for greater musical impact and dynamic range. GuardRail optimizes peak power into the sub and top individually, for greater musical impact and dynamic range.

I just bought this amp, I have it hooked up to an Alesis 3630, dbx 215s eq, & a BBE 482. It's all pushing a pair of JBL JRX Dual 15's! This amp is powerful. I had i cranked up for over an hour & it did it's job. I appreciate the built in fan! My amp rack got hot! Luckily I have a back up fan! You can't go wrong with QSC!!!

Comments about QSC GX7 2 Channel Power Amplifier 725W @ 8 Ohms:
I just picked this amp up last week and used it at my first gig last night. (it was the 2nd gx7, the first one was DOA and had to exchange it, weird)I'm using it to power jbl mrx515 cabs and it is a great match. It puts out so much power to them, i was afraid to push it to clipping they were so loud. @ 725 watts x2, it's amazing how they pack so much power into a 15.5 lb frame. And for the price, i don't know if you find anything else close combined with the qsc quality. Great value/performance ratio. The specs s/n ratio, thd, and damping could be better, but you'll have to pay hundreds more for the powerlight amps to get studio quality. For my use as a mobile dj, it worked just fine for me and the sound was amazing. This should provide years of trouble-free use.

Q:
I am currently using for mobile DJ work a Mackie M-2600 power amp to power a pair of Electro Voice SX250 speakers and for bigger venues I also run a pair of EV Eliminator I subs. The Mackie does a great job, but it weighs a ton! (and I'm not getting any younger!!) Would the QSC GX7 handle this application? Can you suggest any other possible light weight PA amps that would be comparable or better than my Mackie? Thanks!1 answer
