The HPR122i is built around a high-power, reliable QSC power module using the same top quality components anddesign standards as QSC's best selling RMX series amplifiers. Thick aluminum heat sink extrusions with deep fins providemechanical strength and plenty of surface area to keepthe module running cool. While many powered speakeramplifier modules use low cost chip amps, the HPR122i features discrete component designs that deliver the best possible performance even when pushed to the limit. Thepower module incorporates sophisticated signal processingfunctions carefully tailored to the loudspeaker system. Each amplifier channel includes its own limiting with the parameters individually optimized for the frequency band.
A 12" low-frequency woofer with 3" voice coil is powered by 400 watts of class H power. A neodymium magnet designprovides ample motor strength for low end performance without adding unnecessary weight. The 1.4" diaphragm neodymium compression driver is powered by a 100 watt,class AB+B amplifier and is loaded on a 75 degree conical horn. It's the same high-frequency driver you'll find on the HPR153i 3-way loudspeaker system.
The HPR122i is constructed of premium birch. The speaker components are protected by a heavy 16 gauge perforated steel grille with a distinctive and professional appearance. Agrille mounted power LED may be disabled by means of a rear panel switch when desired.
Three thoughtfully placed, ergonomic handles assure that positioning and transporting the loudspeaker is easy andcomfortable. A total of nine (9) threaded M10 inserts allow forseveral different suspension options and use with an optional yoke mount. The integral pole mount socket accommodates 35mm speaker poles for use on a speaker stand or over a sub. I employ a roving band of DJs and recently began switching to powered systems. My focus is on high quality sound at each show. After careful and time consuming demos with the principle competition, the exceptional sonics of the QSC units became very obvious. They are sufficiently powerful for up to medium sized rooms and about 100 people. They need a little bottom end support for larger venues/crowds, though. All in, I am very pleased with this product's performance.

I've been these for about a year now. They are stinkin' amazing. For only having 12" woofers, they have a lot of power and have a very clean sound. They are heavier than just about all 12" powered speakers and heavier than most 15" powered speakers but the heavy-duty contruction and high quality materials more than make up for it. If you plan on using them on events larger than 100 people, you may want to pair it up with the HPR151i subwoofer. Being that they are only 12", the base cranked at high volume will bring it to clipping range much quicker, but paired with the sub with a 100Hz low frequency cut off, these mains really deliver. You will not be disappointed.
For those who can't afford the Bose system, I'd say this is the next best thing... and who can not take advantage of the current 6-year warranty?

I borrowed a pair last weekend. Unbelievable sound, even at low levels. Great for portable DJ rigs that don't do incredibly large halls. Quick set-up and breakdown. Just have to figure additional power outlets into system.
