What would possess me to come back and write a review almost 4 years after I purchased this mixer from PSSL?
Well this is truly feel that this is the best investment I have made in my DJ career. I use my 57 three to five times a week in clubs and on public radio. I rely on the high quality performance, integrated Scratch Live, internal recording, and the accurate controls. The TTM-57 has helped elevate my DJ skills beyond what I ever imagined when starting out.
As far as a professional sounding and high quality product, it doesn't get any better than RANE. I use the balanced outputs to go straight into my speakers. I use the booth output for my monitors and I use the AUX output anytime I need go out of the RCAs. RANE designs their products so that it is easy to make things sound good. The cue system is excellent and quick and the meters are accurate and easy to read.
I originally decided to go with Scratch Live so that I could spin videos. I had no idea how much I would love the program as a whole. I previously had Torq and Traktor and Serato is by far a better program for me. I now spin videos at 95% of my gigs. My favorite part about using the 57 with video is that every movement on the mixer (including EQs) can effect the video output. Even the DJ-FX in the software effect the video.
Without a doubt, there is one feature that sets this mixer apart from all others: internal recording. Granted, Scratch Live must be running in order for this to work but in most cases that is how I am playing my music. All I have to do is start a recording and at the end of my set I have a high quality WAV or AIFF file within seconds after saving. I record everything I do and listen back. This is the best practice tool ever. There is no better way to gain skills than by listening to yourself and this mixer makes it very easy to do this. In fact, I can save a file in SSL, open in itunes, convert to MP3, sync to my phone, and drive home listening to the set I just finished playing. No cables, no discs, no hassle, and always high quality.
In 4 years, I have had to send this mixer to Rane twice. I was never charged for the work and always had my mixer back to me within a week. The first time was a broken fader and the second time was a broken mic volume knob. Considering how much I use the mixer, these kinds of repairs are to be expected. The crew at Rane know me by name now and they have been kind to send me extra fader and EQ knobs as well as some other goodies!!!
Even though I am ready to move up to the SIXTY-EIGHT for the ability to use a third (and 4th) deck, I am still considering buying another 57. I would love to have a second one for the home studio or rentals. I feel like this mixer will be timeless because there is so much that can be done with it.
It's simple enough for classic turntablism or mixing and advanced enough to take things to the next level and beyond.

The knobs are very cheep and brake off easy, the buttons are not sensitive, have to press hard on them, used this mixer for about 2 years, pain to use sound fx, faders are great for scratching but the knobs come loose easy after rough use. Mine takes a beating, the price is to high. I would only recommend this mixer if you have extra cash to blow.

Love the mixer but I have to restart my new macbook pro in 32 byts instead if 64 byts every time I use it.You guy should let new macbook pro owners know that Scratch Live has not updated software yet. It is a irritating ordeal to figure out.

Comments about Rane / Serato Rane TTM-57SL 2-Channel DJ Mixer W/Scratch Live:
Ok I bought this mixer after owning a DN-X120 mixer w/ an SL3 box. I decided since I was going the video route to go ahead and buy the TTM57 SL. First let me say I recommend before buying any product check out their website for any forums. That being said it's a great mixer but be patient with it. If you're coming from an SL 1 or 3 it works alot different. It takes some getting used to especially if you use a mouse with your computer w/ an I processor (i3,i5,i7) Reason is the TTM57 uses USB 1.1 not 2.0. So when you hook things up via USB the mixer goes away on your computer. You can only have certain things hooked up via USB w/ the TTM57. I use two Denon 3700's via Hybrid Midi and the TTM and they run great together. Video SL is great addition but you can't use audio and video effects at the same time. Bottom line is, it's a RANE. Ever heard of a bad one? Me either....

I have 2 of these that i use between a mobile and perm gig. basically covers all outputs, records, and has great sound quality. directly controls video with Video sl. the only downside is there is a bit of a learning curve with learning the multiple functions of buttton states. With that said this is hands down a must have for the pro's.

Bought mixer to get my turntables out of storage after 5 years and it was the best decision ever to get this mixer. It rocks much better than Vestx 05 III I have sitting in my room collecting dust. I had trouble with another Rane product and they took care of me and shipped me some t-shirts too along with a replacement product. I like dealing with companies like that which tells me they are making money but are willing to make the customer happy as well. Works for me!!!

Comments about Rane / Serato Rane TTM-57SL 2-Channel DJ Mixer W/Scratch Live:
This is by far the greatest technology I've encountered to date! (mainly because of the greatest invention, ever, Serato Scratch Live) From the built-in fx to the on board hot cues, it's got it all. You can't beat Rane's buttery smooth faders, that are also the longest lasting highest quality faders money can buy.
They changed the wall plug to a universal outlet; added another ground; threw in the xlr outs for higher quality sound connection (like the empth). Not to mention they added kill switches, which are latch-able, an extra headphone jack thats specifically for 1/8in. (regular sized) headphones (perfect for my shure headphones personally). On the spot record & mix, plus EQ for your mic. To top everything off they made a plug-in for video mixing, talk about high-tech
Overall its perfect, literally, the only thing they didn't put in it was a vocoder so you could make hits like T-Pain! LoL! Anyway, for all serious disc jockeys save your money (because it is costly) & GET THIS MIXER!!!

i've been djing for over 25 years and as a radio/club & mobile dj & turntablist, this is the most dj friendly mixer made to date. with the Serato built in its simple, no brainer use is easy. the faders and all other controls are out of the way for doing tricks, quick mixes, etc. whether in a coffin or case, set up is easy, just connect your turntables, connect usb to your cpu and go!!

A:
The TTM-57 does come with all the items you asked about, the software, time coded CDs and Vinyl/Records. The playback isn't from your 1200s though, the time coded vinyl controls the playback that comes throught the connection of your computer and the 57. As for the laptop, you can use either a Mac or a PC. I would advise you have the recommended computer requirements versuses the minimum requirements. Serato will run smoother. This is a great choice and your back will thank you!Answered on 11/2/2011 by Donovan from Cypress
