Comments about Sennheiser E835 Handheld Dynamic Mic W/ Clip:
I don't want to get into the SM58 vs e835 issue, but the fact is, that it's a great little mic. I have used several of these mics (and the e835s version) for 7+ years.
I have not had one fail me so far. I have not seen one with a deformed grill. I have not seen one fall apart.

Comments about Sennheiser E835 Handheld Dynamic Mic W/ Clip:
At a music store, I demo'ed the E835 against the world famous Shure Beta58A. To keep things equal, we set the mixer level, and set the tones to flat, and used one mic cable. I then swapped mics back & forth. I ran through the vocal siblance test, and held the mic at various distances from my mouth, from "eating the mic" to about 8 inches away. I am a male DJ and my voice is on the lower side, though not a baritone. More like what you'd hear in most radio DJ voices. The E835 had a much clearer tone than the Beta58, and was hotter. The Beta58 made my lower vocal tones sound a bit muffled. On the E835, even pressing my lips against the windscreen and talking loud, I detected NO distortion. I liked the way it felt in my hand, better than the Beta58 too, and to me felt the same weight as the Shure. I do wish it had a mic switch, but the E835S has it and is $10 more. The Beta58A was $160 and this E835 was only [$]..AND it sounded noticeably clearer!! Plus..the Sennheiser 10-year warranty is a great benefit..
