I am a professional motion picture sound technician. I have use these headphones for many years. Although some people use other brands and types of headphones, I would have to say that these are overall the Standard in motion picture and television production. You get good quality and great sound in a very inexpensive package.
My only complaint would be that they do not fit tightly enough to prevent them from falling off your head if you bend over. This especially happens over time when you use them for as many hours as I do (12 to 16 hours per day). this can be partially remedied by re-bending them at the top, but I really wish they would come from the factory just a little bit tighter and remain that way throughout their life.
If it were not for this one caveat, I would give them five stars as they really do sound great for the price.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I first purchased the Sony MDR-7506 headphones when I first purchased my DJ equipment in 1999. I currently STILL use the same set of headphones, which as you can tell, have lasted me over 10 years! Yes, the black seal around the earphone padding has become a little frayed over the years, but I really can't believe that I'm finally going to purchase a new set of headphones after having the same pair for 10 years. I DJ professionally as a side job about twice per month so these headphones haven't been put through the grind of a 5-7 times per week situation. However, the fact that they still work flawlessly is amazing! The only reason I'm purchasing a new set is only because of cosmetics, not because of any loss in performance. I highly recommend them!
