Even though Technics is the most common turntable out there, I refuse to spend [$] each. There is nothing sophisticated about a turntable that has remained unchanged for over 30 years. I can buy 2 Stantons or 2 Numarks and a mixer for the price of 1 1200. Coincidence that since Serato came out, 1200's have doubled in price.

Comments about Technics SL1200MK2 Direct Drive Turntable - Black:
I bought 2 1210's about 12-14 years ago. I've brought them to numerous events over the years and you can still drop a rock on them and they won't skip. People still to this day make comments about how the pitch shifter is so tight compared to most people's 1200's. I have baby'd these things over the years, dust covers back on after every session, and they treat me so well in return. I did have to replace each tonearm after eight years a piece, but that may be to people "licking the needle" in a quick fix at a gig. Pitch shifter is still super sensitive, lights still work, ... what a fantastic piece of direct drive machinery! It makes me sad these are no longer in production, get em while they last!!

I bought 2 of these bad boys about 6 years ago and they are still going hard and strong. I"ve done countless house parties and small events with them and they show no sign of slowing. Best turntable for your money. I would never trade it for any other table out there. Theres a reason this is the industry standard

Q:
Why was there such a heavy price increase?Asked on 3/21/2010 by Dj Poetic from Charlotte,NC2 answers
A:
Sony stopped production of all 1200 series turntables. Not a profitable product line anymore. My buddy in the UK says the Americans are to blame since we wanted the new "digital" technology that's so fancy and we can download tracks instead of waiting for records in the mail like normal DJ's. Sad but true, many distributors have gone out of business like Syntax, Watts, and Primal went all digital. The demand just isn't there anymore.Answered on 3/24/2010 by Vic CDK/NRI from Albany, NYCUSTOMER CARE
