As the "flagship" turntable from Technics, the SL-1210M5G "Grand Master" Direct Drive Turntable offers even more features then the standard-setting SL-1200MK2 or the slammin? SL-1200MK5. Check out the technologically advanced tonearm modifications which virtually eliminate skipping. This is awesome news for scratch DJs. And now you can customize braking speeds to suit your applications. There is also a Quartz-Lock (zero pitch) button and expanded pitch range options: +-8% or +-16% via computerized pitch control. Blue LED numbers indicate the amount of pitch adjustment currently applied. A second button next to the pitch reset button allows you to switch between the two levels of pitch adjustment. There are two columns of numbers, 2/4/6/8 and 4/8/12/16, and each press of the button switches between the two columns and illuminates the current setting. Another super hip new feature is the long-life blue LED stylus illuminator.

Comments about Technics SL1210M5G Grand Master D-Drive Turntable:
This is it. The best in its class. Numark makes a great turntable too but the inconsistancy and unreliability with power issues makes the the technics the most reliable turntable ever. With the +/- 16% added its definitly targeting house style dj's, however, the better torgue and tight pitch control makes this awesome for hip hop style jocks.Anyone thats used earlier version (mk2,mk3 or mk5) can tell you that these feel more solid. You better get these quick before all you can get is a used pair.

Shure M44-7 DJ CartridgeAnswered on 1/29/2010 by DJ MENERGY from Santa Ana, CAA:
Are you using Serato? if so the needles that put out the higher output is either the Shure M44-7G or the Ortofon digital needles. Other wise if you're just a vinyl dj only go ahead and check out some of the ortofon needles. I would suggest the ones that mount to the headshell of the technics. The full cartridge from ortofn tends to be a little light.
Good Luck

Q:
Two of your majors competitors stop carrying these this month and appearantly that must be why your price has gone up. Are you planning on getting rid of Technics too? Do I have to get these before they're gone?Asked on 1/27/2010 by Mateo from Phoenix, AZ3 answers
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
I would definately grab these before they are gone. Technics has discontinued their entire line of turntables. Once stock is gone, it is unknown when and how many we will be getting in.Answered on 1/28/2010 by Leroy from Cypress, CACUSTOMER CARE
A:
Correct, Technics is not going anywhere but until further notice supply is limited across the U.S.. I would definately grab a pair while you can. Simply due to the fact that we don't know if or when we will have another shipment in the near future.Answered on 3/3/2010 by Leroy from Cypress, CAA:
Technics isnt going anywhere. The reason this model is being dropped by other suppliers is because the M5G model is no longer being produced, as it was a limited edition deck. That "Limited" window is now closed. Id get these while you still can.Answered on 3/3/2010 by Sike-1 from Philadelphia, PA
