I AM A REAL DEEJAY!
Pros: Simply the best

I have owned my MKII's for about ten years, and I can agree that I see why they are the industry standard however, I bought these and have been using them for about a year. These are by far considerably better than the MKII's for a couple of reasons. One, the digital pitch control allows you to take your versatility of music to the next level, i.e. down south to east coast to club, to b-more club music and house and gradually right back down. The 0-6 anti skip plays an important roll when you have those records with microscopic sratches that skip over and over regardless of how much you clean the record, that is virtually eliminated (considering the MKII's only go to three). When dropping an instrumental behind a track and you have that 8 to 16 bar breakdown while you look for the original song, the 0 pitch button allows to instantly lock it to the right speed and mix the original song in flawlessly. The blue illuminating makes a HUGE difference when there is no light, no more of putting your hand over the pitch control to see where it's located. The blue is true. When scratching, the response is matched to that of the VESTAX 2000's, the grip is good for releasing and catching the tip of a phrase right were you want. It also compliments crabbing and flaring by catching the point of the record exactly where you want it and allows you release the record on que with out having lag or a delay for the turntable to catch up with you. On top of all of that it's useable directly out of the box. You don't have to break it in. My pitch slider on the MKII is almost as slick as my fader on my mixer. The 5G is impeccable once the blend is locked, it is locked, you can literally walk away from the decks while mixing. So there you have it from a REAL DJ. Any real DJ that OWNED IT would know this! Keep hope alive!

Great turntable
Pros: Consistent

The guy above don't know what he's talkin about in his review. Take it from a Pro.

It's only $50 more and you get rid of that stupid click at 0%. That is the main reason to take these over the MK2. The click is known by pro DJ's as "Death Valley". Why? Cause it can kill your mix if your ridding the beat and hit it while adjusting pitch. This is key for electronic DJ with long mixes. For the Hip Hop or Scratch DJ you get a couple more grams of force on the antiskate so you can hold the groove. Also after a couple years the pitch will drift near the click

I've DJed over 20 year and I repair equipment for fellow DJs. I own 4 decks 2 MK2s and 2 MK5s.
Trust me 1200s are the best and in every major club around the world!!!
The MK5 has improvments well worth the extra $50

Also, You can put the MK5 pitch into an old MK2 you just don't get a reset button.

Junk
Cons: More complicated than nee

why would you buy this when you can buy a MK2? MK2's are the DJ standard. Don't be fooled with the useless features. Ask any real DJ and they will tell you MK2's or nothing.

Japanese DJ's? RIght...
Pros: Easy To Use,Consistent

To the "dj" from Japan (you know the land of trendy dj's and good electronics) I must say that there is nothing the MkII won't do that this things doesn't need.

Seriously, the MKII is the best seller for a reason. Everything you need and nothing you don't.

Don't be fooled by gimmicks. Seriously, just go to a show and watch US dj's like QBert and Klever go at it. They are the best. They use MKII's
