Comments about Vocopro CDG8800PRO Dual Format CDg Player:
Insanity: Doing the same action repeatedly, expecting a different reaction....Is this why I have five (yes 5) of these units among other Voco ("pro")units either sent or about to sent back (to various web stores) after just weeks (the longest lasting one) of use? Thankfully no. Fact is, there are very few dual CDG units available designed to fit my custom racks so I've tried 'em all. (Numark, American Audio, a Pioneer and a Dennon w/a CDG converter, ect.)
Most units came in W/one of the transports not able to read CDGs. A few worked for about four hours (My shows run five). Two lost CDG decoding altogether within one weekends use! Even when working well, ALL of them left random marks of "confetti" on the screen after the words had left. I ONLY use high quality discs' mostly Sound Choice. My daughter's Wal-mart sing-a-long cube displays these discs perfectly!!
Here's the really cool part; If voco "pro"s cute little singing lion logo or the two teen girls singing (in their living rm.) on the carton don't tip you off as to the home use garbage inside, I DARE ANYONE to find one CDG8800PRO that does not skip and glitch (even on standard CDs) when lightly bumped! I've even had my local music store in Appleton WI open the THREE units they had in stock, just to find the same results on all three! Not a jar to the unit but, a light knock on the table next to it. Sometimes even closing tray #2 will audibly disturb tray #1's playback!!!! Just let one singer start "Mountain Music" in a crowded tavern & wait for the foot stompin' to end your show. I've even had a dropped beer mug (about 5 ft. away) on a wooden floor mess up the graphics! some professional unit!
Sound like I work for the competitor? Nope; I don't have a "real" job. I'm a DJ... It puts food on my table. Unfortunately, however, w/mis-represented products such as this, my time, my money and the reputation of my DJ/Karaoke company are all adversely affected. I write this as a service, not a rant (really!). These units are selling like hotcakes for over a year now, why am I the first feedback (Not only on this site)? Come on guys, help each other out.
