Okay Sub for beginners
Pros: Easy To Connect
Cons: Poor Sound Quality,Not Very Powerful

I have 2 of these yamaha subs and they are "okay" but when compared to other sub units(like my JBL subs.) My jbl's have a much fuller sound compared to these and are much smaller. Jbl's have more "punch" with the same amount of power.

Big Sound Big Cabinet
Pros: Powerful,Great Sound Quality
Cons: Heavy for one person,Large Cabinet

As a mobile DJ for 18 years I've always wanted to add more bass. I added two of these big boys and drive them with an EP2500. They filled the small town prom up and bounced the Elks Lodge floor at 1/2 power. They are, however, bulky and tough to get your arms around (the 70+ lbs isn't the issue, they're ergonomically tough to pick up without help.) As a first pair of subs purchas, I've done the homework and am very satisfied.

Any recommendations on amps for this?
Trying to upgrade on May 19, 2015
BEST ANSWER: For the Yamaha SW118V Club Series V Subwoofer, we would recommend an amp that can push at least 600w @ 8 Ohms per channel or 1200w @ Ohms per channel if running two of these on one channel.
can I use the Yamaha 18 sub as an external speaker off my Hartke 5210 bass combo amp? Can I set the frequency crossover at the Yamaha? Scott
Scott on Feb 11, 2010
BEST ANSWER: With the combo that you have, you will not be putting enough power to the sub for proper use if you run it off of the combo.
