Comments about Zoom H4 Handheld Digital 4-Track Portable Recorder:
I use this product by either using the 1/4" line in jacks to record my live sets or by using the mics to record while I'm in the club. I prefer it to using the built in recorders in Serato which can bog down the performance of your machine. It does take a little while to get the settings just perfect when using the mics to record a live set and would be better if they used rotary knobs as opposed to switches to adjust the volume of the audio in, because traditionally when I record in a club the volume gradually gets louder, but the switches make it so that I have to make a severe adjustment to the volume if I want to adjust the audio in during a mic'd set. Anyways, to give you a sample of the output that comes out of these recorders, I have over 30 sets recorded using this device at my [@] some with the mic some with the 1/4" line-ins. Cheers.

Comments about Zoom H4 Handheld Digital 4-Track Portable Recorder:
I've never used a more versatile portable recording tool. Use a high speed SD card to minimize noise from the blinking LED of the record button. Use the AC adapter or full rechargable batteries and the LED noise disappears entirely. Highest quality settings deliver nearly pro-level clarity. The controls are a bit complicated. You must spend some time with the manual if you want to learn the advanced functions, but you are greatly rewarded for doing so. Mic pre-amp function could stand to supply less noise, so the H4 does miss the mark on being a truly professional recording device, but I don't think that's what Samson was going for anyway. The body case is made of very lightweight plastic. Sturdy plastic or metal would feel better in your hand and perhaps resonate less when the unit is brushed or bumped when field recording. Effects galore. Multiple mic/line input options. Line as well as USB output. Overall, a mighty fine product. It's basically a recording studio that fits in your coat pocket. Bravo, Samson.
