About Me Professional Musician

Verified Buyer

Pros

  • Bright
  • Easy Setup
  • Efficient
  • Lightweight Easy Carry
  • Long Beam Throw
  • Low Power Consumption
  • Runs Cooler

Cons

  • Limited Functions
  • Needs Add Ons For Fading
  • Poor Owners Manual

Best Uses

  • Performances

A very good unit. Much better than the old incandescent lighting I have been using. Disappointed that fading between colors is only available with an expensive add on DMX. No control over changing colors and saving the changes. Foot controller colors are different than the Remote control colors. Why?

  • Runs Cooler

Cons

  • No Amber Or White
  • Weak

Best Uses

I bought one of these for a music and lighting project using a USB-DMX controller. I liked it enough I bought a second one. I was new to LED lighting but I figured I would give it a shot and 4 units at this price seemed like a good deal. First thing I want to mention is that its not 4 individual mega pars. All 4 run as a set connected to the bar. The stand and unit are nicely built. Note, the DMX channel and cables face forward not back. After using it I was hoping I could mount them on my 10' I-truss, but the stand is a different diameter.
As for the light they produce... They are not super bright. They are not focused beams, just splashes of color. When full on RBG its not a solid evenly mixed white. And trying to make a good orange is hard without amber, and I have seen that on higher end lights.
The standard chases and music activated chases are fine, but I was out to do something more. One example of something kind of cool you can do is control the RBG channels separately for a changing color, then use the master or strobe channels to kick the lights on or off at the push of a button or light cue. There is an extra set of DMX channels that provide nice features that you can't do with individual units (as easy). I feel like I should list a bunch of good features, but really they are what you expect a LED par to be other than what I have mentioned. I feel like I'm making them sound bad, and they are not at all. They are just entry level; but, very capable in DMX features.
