what is rms and what is peak

RMS is the process used to determine the average power output of the speakers over a long period of time.

What is the continuous wattage on this speaker?
BEST ANSWER: The Yamaha DSR115 is a powered speaker. The peak for the built in amp is 1300 watts.

Awesome Powered Speakers
Pros: Easy To Set Up,Attractive Design,Good Power Output,Great Sound Quality,Easy to Mount
Yamaha hit a home run with these powered cabs. These are my first powered cabs and I picked these over QSC, JBL, EV, & Mackie. I use 2 of them for my DJ set up. They are very loud (1300 watts and 136db peak specs) and deliver clear sound. They have never clipped on me. A few times people have actually ask me to turn them down. I like that you can use either 1/4 or XLR inputs. Handles on both sides make them easy to carry. Exterior grill and coating are both attractive and tough. Amps run cool to the touch. No fan noise. Locking power cable is also a nice feature.

The next level
Pros: Attractive Design,Easy to Mount,Easy To Set Up,Great Sound Quality,Good Power Output
Cons: Weak Bass
As a mobile DJ/MC I have used these speakers in a number of situations both indoors and out. With the new technology they do not sound harsh even when pushed to high sound levels. I have a pair of Mackie 1521's that produce a better bass response but do not sound as clean as the Yamaha's. My next wish is to add the matching sub's to my system. The weight is reasonable for a 15" powered speaker and the bed liner type coating so far has been bullet proof. With all of the above considered, I am using the Yamaha's more and more and have been very pleased with the sound and have received numerous comments on how good they sound.
