A discreet, specially-wearable lavalier/lapel microphone PinMic™ (PinMic-Long) from RØDE Microphones features an innovative pin-through design which not only makes it easier to conceal than a traditional lapel microphone, but also offers more versatile mounting options. Consisting of a cabled backplate with pins, plus a removable omni-directional capsule head, it's easily mounted onto any clothing or fabric by pushing the backplate's pins through from the back of the fabric, then sliding the capsule into place over the pins on the front, effectively "clamping" it into place. The result is that the microphone backplate and cable are hidden behind the fabric, and out front, the capsule head can then easily be disguised, covered, or decorated for further microphone concealment. The capsule is a discreet 9mm deep and 11mm in diameter, and comes with both a black mesh head and unpainted silver mesh head which allows further camouflaging through custom painting. This particular model easily mounts through any thicker fabrics – up to 3.5mm/0.14" thick – with no damage to clothing. Other features include a 4ft (1.2m) detachable, shielded Kevlar® reinforced cable that's been rigorously strain-tested to ensure dependable use, an included mini-furry windscreen for high wind protection ensures quality recordings in adverse environments, and more.
