I use this rack for a mobile setup, I also am a Video Turntablist and use this rack to mount my projector and it works wonderfully. The stands are on the heavy side, and have steel feet, so bring pads for any gig on wooden or vinyl flooring. I hoped they design a quick clamp for this size truss, but otherwise an exellent product.

I use this product for mobile dj setups. After reading some reviews, I was very nervous about buying this product. I have used this several times so far, and it doesn't get any easier. The crank stands are SOLID and easy to use. I can do it myself now, which makes setup that much easier. The truss is not flimsy. It is solid and can hold some weight. I no longer have to worry about my stand separating in the middle like on the LT-MTS-3. There are even conveniently placed attaching points on the bottom of the truss for connecting lights with a wing nut/bolt. This is a great buy!

Came across this on google. Just thought I'd comment as a professional rigger (and lighting tech) working in the entertainment industry.
No way do those 3 guys in the picture weigh less than 300lbs combined (the capacity the stands/truss is rated for). Surely the store isn't trying to imply you can hang more from it than it says its safe to?
Just because it can hold more weight than its rated to, doesn't mean its safe to hang more equipment than it says it can. The capacity given is worked out after a number of factors are taken into account, things such as safety factor ratio & the loads will be applied for sustained periods of time.
You could likely hang a small car off that truss, but it wouldn't stay hanging for very long. See what I'm getting at.
I'm sure the picture was only put up as some harmless fun, but people might get the wrong idea and ignore the weight capacity rating.
Stay safe.

I'm using 5 sections, 25' on 15ft crank stands. 2.5ft overhang on each end so it's a 20' span. Supports my 225lb weight hanging in the middle. Hanging Source4 Leko's and PARs with the Duraclamps with no problem.
Do not use the provided connector clips. I use 1/4-20 x 1 1/2" bolts with wing nuts to connect the sections.

Duratruss is easy to setup and very strong. Stands are very heavy duty. Additional 5 foot sections are very easy to purchase.
Several different types of clamps are available AND designed for this trussing unit.
There are much larger and stronger trusses, but you will spend thousands on them. This is a really good investment for your money.
Only downfall is its only 9 feet tall.

I am a mobile DJ and purchased this product as a replacement for an LTS50T system. I absolutely love the crank up stands and the truss is heavy duty. My decision was between this and the Crank 2 system, but I wanted the triangular truss instead of the I beam style like the LTS 50T has. The stands are a little on the heavy side, but are strong and work very well. A friend of mine turned me onto this system (he has one so I knew the truss size and the need for special clamps to hang lights anywhere else on the truss other than the slots that are pre-drilled on the bottom side of the truss in added cross members). The Clamps are the dura clamp for this system. His setup is outfitted with 15 ft of truss and he has an impressive light show on it, larger than mine. Contrary to what the review before mine says there is no sag in the truss at all. My setup is 6 effect lights 1 strobe and 2 LED wash bars, the truss and stands can easily take more lighting, for the gigs I do this is plenty. My advise is don't let the small diameter of the truss fool you this stuff is tough. I would like to point out that the truss is 6 inch and the tubing is about 3/4 inch, but it is metal not aluminum so it can carry a heavy load. I don't see this mentioned anywhere[...].

This truss system looks nice, and is an easy set-up, but the trussing is very small, and not intented to work with clamps of any sort. I have to figure out, and jimmy my lights on this thing at every event. It's got hanging "holes" on the bottom, and not many.
The stands are great, and when I buy "real" trussing, I will continue to use these stands. Only thing, very heavy! But I can deal with it. My clients are very impressed when this is set-up, but like i said, it don't just work, you gotta make it work...

The words "Made In China" says it all...
Cons: It's much smaller than I anticipated and the truss itself is so small you can't use any type of clamp on it. The truss is very poorly made, very small, and the locking pins break easily. It can hold 164 lbs. max and I would not recommend anything bigger than par 56 cans. I tested the 10' with par 64 cans and had to cram them close to get 8 on the truss. You can only bolt from the center, as the average thumb is nearly twice as thick as the truss that comes with this package.
Pros: It sets up very easy and is very lightweight and the stands are the best part by far. I bought two extra 5' sections and noticed some sagging with 16 par 64 cans and two large dimmers evenly distributed. I found that placing the trees closer to the inside center gives you more stability and reduces sagging. I used my NSI 6000 dimmers as a counter-weight on each edge piece. That helped get everything in a pretty decent line.
Overall, the truss is cheap and poorly made. If the truss was considerably thicker and with better welds it would be worth spending a bit more money for. If you buy better truss you can easily get your money's worth out of the stands, which are worth it for the money. Functionally, it works and is easy to setup. I'm replacing the truss with a much more durable model, which should work out better. I'll use the cheap truss as stage decorations, which will set it off nice.

Q:
Can i use these crank stands with global trussing as well?1 answer
A:
Yes they just have to meet the weight limitations.Q:
How round are the bars on the truss? Are they 1 in or 1 1/2 in .1 answer
A:
This truss is actually a little smaller than 1 in in diameter. I would suggest picking up a few dura clamps with your order(the clamps specifically desinged for this truss).Q:
Everyone says that the triangle truss is smaller than they expected it to be but can still hold so much since its steel. And other comments say that they added another 5' section of truss which is what I am wanting to do. I need to light a small stage in a hotel for a convention. Probabally holding 10 par-64's. I think this should work with sandbags on each stand. But what 5' section of truss do I buy to attatch add on? I don't want to buy the wrong one and not have it connect propperly, or dangeroulsy? Can someone post a link..... Thanks.1 answer

When and If you decide to purchase this truss system you will want to call us at 1-800-945-9300 so we can special order you a additional 5' section from American Dj.Q:
CAN I MAKE THIS TRUSS LONGER ? IF SO HOW CAN I?2 answers
A:
If you want to make it looker you would have to look at Global Truss for the thicker truss. I would not recommend making this truss longer because of weight.A:
American DJ does offer an additional section that you can purchase. I would re rate to around 200 lbs at that distance. These are VERY strong for there size.I run the additional sectiona and load it with 8 rectangular 366led par cans and a laser on top. I keep my big strobes on the sides. It holds this as well as a dimmer pack with ease.Q:
