Comments about Chauvet Freedom Par DMX Wireless RGB LED Par:
Last year I purchased some standard wired up lighting which were state of the art in 2011 and what everyone was buying. I'd been getting requests for up lighting before and was turning away business. Now that I had up lighting, I was able to increase my revenue exponentially. Well, there's a downside to up-lighting. SET UP. Or should I say SET DOWN.
I found that putting them down on the floor, running power and dmx cables, lining and taping along the baseboards was both time consuming and energy depleting. Probably not for those of you who don't mind hiring this out, but I'm a one man show and the money I make all goes into my pocket. By the time I laid down a dozen up lights, I was literally worn out before the show even began. My usually set up time of 30 minutes was now two hours. BUMMER! Then I saw these advertised a few months back.
Long story short, I've sold the old lighting and purchased a dozen of these Chauvet Freedom Par fixtures. They are great, NO POWER CORD and NO DMX WIRING, just set it down, turn it on and start the show. There is a little bit of learning curve navigating the electronic on board menu, but the instruction manual is helpful to a great degree.
In some reviews you might read that you need to purchase the "optional" hand held IRC remote control. Wrong. It's included with the light. However, BEWARE if you plan on using this with a DMX controller like the OBEY 3 or OBEY 4 also by Chauvet.
Yes you can use a DMX cable to the first light and daisy chain from there OR you can use a DMX cable to the first and then that unit will broadcast that signal wireless to all the others OR you can go totally wireless and use the OBEY with a DMX signal transmitter. Now here is the BEWARE WARNING: You will want only the CHAUVET D-FI 2.4 GHz Wireless transmitter, NOT NOT the D-FI/TX. Mine were shipped from the factory and they included the TX but for a full day I could not get my controller to sync with the lights. A call to the factory revealed the reason: I had the wrong controller. So, when you get the lights and want to use the dmx controller function, wirelessly, be sure you get the correct wireless transmitter.
How great are they? I did a wedding last weekend. I wheeled in the 12 lights then set them up one by one in various locations. It took me 6 minutes. Then I went back to my DJ station in the corner and selected GREEN for the main color. ALL 12 responded accordingly. SWEET!
For DJ lighting applications, mount these to a Truss or T bar with some c clamps and put them on one of the 26 built in auto programs, they are really incredible, especially when they get into the quadrant mode. Think of a pie divided into four pieces. Each piece lights a different color than the other three. Wow.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
It does not need to be connected to a wireless internet connection. If you have any further questions or would like to purchase an item, please feel free to call us at (800)945-9300. We'd love to help.

What is the overall life expectancy for the battery? Meaning how many times can it be recharged?
The exact number of times the battery can be charged is not specified by the manufaturer. The unit is made with a very high grade battery so I would say it should be able to give a hanfull of years usage. If you have any further questions please feel free to give us a call at 800-945-9300.
